OK, Canadian women solidarity shit in the USA

What is this crap? We have so many problems in Canada yet some women decide to go to The States ... 'Women's march on Washington'. Like really?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/womens...nada-1.3942705

So fucking stupid. It costs money for freaking traveling to the States and it does nothing ... give that money you have to some Canadian charities for God's sake. There are homeless people in Canada. Old people who depend on food banks etc.

Would American women come to Canada to complain about our election. No, I don't think so.

Donald Trump is the President of The USA, like it or not. Done deal.

People are sheep, seriously. I could understand if Trump started some war but this is beyond stupid.

I have to admit, some of this stuff is so cringe and lame.

Gillie Chartier and Stephanie Davreux, in Saskatoon, showed their support for the Women's March through lyrics from Beyoncé songs

Re: OK, Canadian women solidarity shit in the USA

It's very good of them to object to the most powerful leadership position in the world being taken over by a disgusting pest who glorifies the sexual harassment of women. They are in the right.

It is, of course, not mutually exclusive for them to protest against Trump and to campaign against homelessness (and any other issue that you consider to be more important than sexism, racism, and various other problems embodied by Trump). How do you know these protesters limit their political activity to this one event?

Oh, I'm back. What is your point? I never see you posting something about tennis by the way, yet you are here trying to tell me I'm illiterate. Go ahead stupid.

Should Canadian women go to Colombia to 'march' about their drug cartels?
It means absolutely nothing. They achieved nothing.

Should French women go to the UK and march about Brexit?

Canadians should mind their own business. That was my point. We have enough problems here.

So, please don't be stupid. If you have something to say say it. Elaborate it.

It is irrelevant what I think about Trump or Americans. I made myself clear about that. It is their own business.

It's very depressing to see conformism and narcissism nowadays mistaken for radical or progressive politics.

Kat, please give me a break. I like your style by the way and your posts are fair when it comes to tennis.

How is Trump going to hurt women? That is just childish.

I just don't see the point. Yes, Canadian women can spend money on whatever they want to. In this case it's simply pointless.

I mean what do they want to prove? Uh, oh, Trump is evil. The media is making too much out of this. There is so much shit on the internet.

It is not our business. That was my point. Let Americans do whatever they want to. I just don't know what Canadian women or man have to do with this. As if they are going to change anything.

How is Trump going to hurt women? Yes, he BS too much but he is smart. Do I agree with everything he says. Hell no. I hate his hair, lol.

However, Canadians marching some shit in the USA is just stupid.

Do I support him? No. Do I support Hillary Clinton? no. I don't care. I support Canada and our people.

Re: OK, Canadian women solidarity shit in the USA

"How is Trump going to hurt women? That is just childish."

If you listen to what these protesters are actually saying, you will understand some of the specific points of objection. You can find out why they think Trump will hurt women if you do some very basic research. For example, he is eager to overturn Roe v. Wade, which is a big point of contention for many women who care about having a say over their lives (and as a corollary, no more public funding for Planned Parenthood).

There is also the ~small~ matter of having a president who believes it is OK to "grab women by the pussy". If you think that is culturally insignificant, and that blatant sexual abuse should not be an immediate dealbreaker when deciding which candidate to vote for, you might want to ask yourself why not.

You're free to keep advocating Westphalian ideas about letting people do whatever they want in other countries without interfering. Some of us have a more internationalist outlook and actually like trying to help people outside of our own countries — even more so when the country in question is the United States, which persistently meddles with the affairs of the rest of the world and now has a president who doesn't mind publicly drooling over his homicidal fantasies of "bombing the shit" out of Syria.

Re: OK, Canadian women solidarity shit in the USA

"No more public funding for Planned Parenthood"

And this is the best argument they can make! Does this internal policy question justify worldwide protests of women? I am against privatization, but Planner Parenthood will be just fine, as they are a prominent apparatus of the Democratic party - their partisan position is expected to draw enough donations for them to continue the good work they do. I'd say any Republican in power would have defunded them - that's what you get for entering political games as a humanitarian organization. A lot has to do with how everyone is "woke" nowadays - when Bush banned foreign aid to groups that give abortion counseling, nobody bat an eye because not many people noticed. I think being "woke" is a great thing, but it necessarily demands critical thinking.

About the overblown "internationalist" outlook. Interesting how the largest protests took place in the UK, Canada and in a few western capitals. This is international only by definition. Yes, there were protests around the world, but mostly all largely promoted by Americans or other foreigners. Most people didn't give a. Rather than a sign of internationalism, it's an indicator of the spread of the colonial ideology of "West is fashionable and always knows better".

Re: OK, Canadian women solidarity shit in the USA

In essence there is nothing wrong with it since Trump is setting back things like abortion rights (although I don't think he is able to overturn Roe v. Wade), but these are mostly the same women who didn't say a thing about the US friendship with Saudi Arabia or Obama bombing women in seven different countries. So naturally I have mixed feelings when it comes to elitist feminism like this. They will also never address something that is more important than their petty identity politics: economic inequality (CLASS STRUGGLE). Because that's a privilege that provides them with a cushy life. And if we are going fully tin foil hat you could suggest that third-wave feminism and identity politics are CIA ops to keep socialism from becoming a player.

Trump wanting to bomb the shit out of Syria is a good thing in this case, since he is actually targeting ISIS instead of going soft on them like Obama so they can be used to further the American imperialist agenda.

Okay, the question of Planned Parenthood is of international nature, true, but not many people notice that.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation said its partners in Nepal, Kenya and Ethiopia had lost American funding - they were compelled to close clinics and offer fewer contraceptives.
Meanwhile, in recent decades, abortion rates have declined sharply in the richest countries, including the United States.

Interesting. I don't remember the worwide protests back then?

I mean, it's cool that people protested the defunding of Planned Parenthood - but there's a lot to be skeptical about here.
