Rank Star Wars movies from best to worst

Rogue One was a very nice surprise to me. The main thing is, it exceeded expectations. It is actually better then The Force Awakens.
I must admit, I am pleasantly surprised with what Disney did with the saga so far.

So, here is my list:
1. A New Hope - Nothing can beat the excitement of watching the first movie for the first time.
2. The Empire Strikes Back - Many rank it the best and it maybe is, but I still like the first one better.
3. Rogue One - Much better than expected and I am not even a big fan of Felicity.
4. The Force Awakens - A good return, despite some plot holes and being too similar to A New Hope.
5. Return of the Jedi - Overrated. Never liked the "Teddy Bears" and catering to small kids. But a decent wrap up of the original trilogy.
6. Revenge of the Sith - The best of the worst.
7. Attack of the Clones - Still passable, despite bad acting by Anakin.
8. The Phantom Menace - By far. Kids movie for 10 and younger (I blame "Teddy Bear" success in Return of the Jedi). Jar Jar and kid Anakin are both terrible.

Re: Rank Star Wars movies from best to worst

I am first and foremost a fan of the original trilogy and truly despise the PT. However the new Disney action SW films will be also some new low in the SW universe.

Here my list:
1. A New Hope - Still the deserved classic one of the series with a consistent plot and "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" storyline.
2. The Empire Strikes Back - Many rank it as the "best directed film" of the series, still not always as enjoyable as ANH.
3. Return of the Jedi - Didn't like the ewoks, but everything else worked well and made an epic end to the OT.
4. Rouge One - Interesting take on a story between 2 milestone films, however too action-focused.
5. Revenge of the Sith - Terrible storytelling of Anakin's turn to the Dark Side ruined this one.
6. The Force Awakens - Very overrated. A giant copy of "A New Hope", just in a constant action thriller version.
7. Attack of the Clones - Too much CGI, with many weaknesses and terrible acting except Obi-Wan.
8. The Phantom Menace - The most infantile version of Lucas. Could never watch it through tbh

Rank Star Wars movies from best to worst

1. A New Hope - A hero's journey movie at its finest.

2. Empire Strikes Back - The most "Star Wars" movie and darkest of all the original series

3. The Force Awakens - After the dismal prequel series, the "safe" direction is just what the series needed which was an extremely well executed final product.

4. Return of the Jedi - Satisfying conclusion of the original trilogy

5. Revenge of the Sith - The darkest, most emotionally resonant of the prequels which isn't saying much since the bar is set quite low. Solid lightsaber battles.

6. Rogue One - This was enjoyable even if it suffered execution-wise. Characters aren't fleshed out properly which meant there was a lack of urgency to the plot. Since we know the timeline it was set, the fate was already known. Therefore the importance of this movie was the HOW part. Unfortunately, the plot wasn't very complex besides the mystery of the messenger. It had an awkward first 20 minutes with the scene transitions and the final battle went on for too long like in Attack of the Clones. Donne Yen was awesome and easily the best thing about the movie.

7. Phantom Menace - Not a huge fan of the direction's appeal to 'kids'.

8. Attack of the Clones - The plot didn't advance much, the romance was terrible, didn't like the actor that played teen Anakin; very stiff in delivery. The final battle was also too long and the dialogue scenes were tedious with political mumbo jumbo.

Re: Rank Star Wars movies from best to worst

I didn't watch Rogue One yet, but pretty much everyone told me it was good. I'm probably watching in the next couple of weeks.

My ranking so far:
1. The Empire Strikes Back.
2. A New Hope.
3. Revenge of The Sith.
4. Return of the Jedi.
5. Attack of the Clones.
6. Phantom Menace.
7. The Force Awakens.

Added a poll. Since the consensus is that A New Hope and The Empire Streaks Back are the two best movies of the franchise so far, the question is what is the third best movie.

1. Return of the Jedi
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. A New Hope
5. Attack of the Clones
6. The Phantom Menace
7. Force Awakens- One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The last hour of the movie is complete trash and the trio of villains are ludicrously terrible.

Btw, Carrie Fisher is in intensive care, after suffering a severe heart stroke on a plane a couple of days ago.

Re: Rank Star Wars movies from best to worst

A New Hope - by far the best film, Alec Guiness produces a performance for the ages, making the rest of the cast look amatuer (I guess they mostly were).

Empire Strikes Back - Another classic, though didn't think it was as clever as the first.

Differing shades of average to awful:

Revenge of the Sith - Simply for the Anakin burning scene, very funny. Actually a half decent movie. Ian McDiarmid gets close to Guiness levels with his energy, great performance there.

Return of the Jedi - overated, terrible ending, way to many plot strands, Emperor saves it again.

Force Awakens - rehash of the first film, 0 originality, pathetic. Finn was decent I guess.

Phantom Menace - Fuck you Lucas, truly awful, Red Letter Media rips this shit apart on YouTube. Decent lightsaber battle at the end but truly tragic.

Attack of the Clowns - boring trash. Dreadful, at least Jar Jar Binks was agrivating, felt nothing over this, a void, much like the acting.

Welcome to MTF...

I really liked Revenge Of The Sith mainly because of the face off fight scenes between the big characters.

Clearly Lucas knew he messed up with the first two prequals and thought sod it ill just make revenge of the sith one big face off movie and it worked

Yoda vs the emperor at the end was just EPIC

Revenge of the Sith was my personal favourite star wars film. Attack of the Clones was probably the most disappointing, the only part of that film worth remembering was Yoda's lightsaber battle with Dooku.

Just saw this on the news, terrible news. She was still quite young too. Have they finished shooting the next movie??. I know Princess Leia was suppose to be in it.

Just heard on the news that she had an affair with Harrison ford on set, first time I heard about this LOL.
