What do you think of Beckham?

I'd never watched DB before today's WC game against Ecuador, and saw for the first time how he "bends it".

Anyway, the commentators said, yes, he did score, but that he's a "set piece" and really played terribly other than that one kick.

What do you guys think?

Re: What do you think of Beckham?

Well he set up Crouch from a non set piece with an equally great lob, so whatever.

He's a threat every time he rushes up the wing for that cross.

Other than doing well on a few set pieces he really doesn't do much.

I guess Roddick must be the greatest player to ever play the game.

Good at free kicks and crossing.

Other than that, a waste of space.

Gotta always remember Portuguese fans dying of laughter after his penalty in Euro 2004.

I think he used to be better when playing in Man Utd and not having a wife.

Re: What do you think of Beckham?

I don't understand why people criticize him for his lack of dribbling. He's a set piece expert. That's what he does best. If there's one person I'm disappointed during this WC its Lampard. How many chances has he missed? literally a dozen? The ball that Rooney passed to him inside the penalty area, FFS atleast get it on target! At that level you're expected to put balls like those in the net

Beckham I believe is top in assists in la liga, he creates goals, he doesn't score them. lampard on the other hand is known at chelsea as a goal scoring midfielder. Well right now, One of them is fulfilling their roles

I'm not saying he's the best or anything because he's far from being the best in his position, I'm saying some criticisms towards him are unfair. Beckham has a bad match, its on the headline of the tabloids, another england player has a bad match, no one says a word

I'm a Madridista, I have not missed one Real madrid match this season, I can tell you, Beckham has been one of the most consistent players we have. he hit some rough patches during the season, but who doesn't?

Some people just love to hate Beckham

You have just witnessed the RAFALUTION

And that's why I respect him. I don't care about the media hype or the Posh Spice or his voice but he's really good at something and that deserves respect.

Re: What do you think of Beckham?

I think he's overrated, i don't think he's attractive in looks at all, and there are far better players out there. I think the only reason that he's so popular is because of his celebrity status (but yet again I don't know too much about soccer.) His name is better than his game, whereas with a player like Ronaldo, the name goes with the game. He deserves all the hype he gets, where as I just don't feel the same way about Beckham. Or mabye I'm just biased because I don't like Beckham, but thats my 2 cents worth

Re: What do you think of Beckham?

Terrifice passer, terrific crosser and very good at free kicks. Cant defend though really, he is too slow and has lost even more (of the little) speed he had. Very few people able to supply balls like he does in the world, so he deserves a place in the team even if he cant run or defend He will always provide great chances for players to score from his passing or crossing.

Re: What do you think of Beckham?

I don't.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
