Arrow To those along the US Gulf Coast

I just want to send out thoughts and prayers to those on MTF (and all the people in that area) who might possibly live in the path of Hurricane Katrina. This doesn't sound like it's going to be easy at all for the people living there.

Good luck to everyone there and I hope you're seeking higher ground and shelter!

Edit: Just heard that they're preparing for Katrina to be a Category 5 hurricane when it hits! I especially hope now everyone there is headed for shelter!

What would Anderson say?

I have friends who live in southeastern Louisiana -- I'm very nervous for them, not to mention their property. I hope they left the area... This storm sounds like it could be catastrophic.

When Katrina passed Miami, they predict she will only go up to category 3, now she's like Camilli

Sending good vibes to the Gulf coast!

Re: To those along the US Gulf Coast

I hope everyone down there gets out safely, because even when Katrina hits the land, it's still going to be at category 4 intensity. Put that with the fact that New Orleans is 7 feet below sea level, that city will probably never be the same again.

"I'm not fighting with myself. Oh, my God. That's how I am. You know, the story of the hippo? The hippo comes to the monkey and said, listen, I'm not a hippo. So, he paint himself like a zebra. He said but he's still a hippo. He said but look at you, you're painted like a zebra but you are a hippo. So then he goes, you know, like I want be a little parrot. So, he put the colours on him and he comes to the monkey and said but, sorry, you are a hippo. So, in the end, you know, he comes and said I'm happy to be a hippo. This is who I am. So, I have to be who I am and he's happy being a hippo." - Marat Safin

That's really scary. Luckily they've called for mandatory evacuations.

Re: To those along the US Gulf Coast

Its not looking good at all. New Orleans is 70% under sea level. there is good chance of half the city getting wiped out....this is something they been expecting and know it will happen but not now or this soon. maybe 30 years from now.

Re: To those along the US Gulf Coast

waterlevel to rise 20-25 over sea level in New Orleans..well NewO is UNDER sea level, so if you do the math..its gonna be really ugly.

Re: To those along the US Gulf Coast

They're expecting that Grand Isle will probably be totally wiped out now too. There's also a big lake in New Orleans (I can't remember how to spell it, something like Poncharchatrain) and the meteorologists have been saying that it easily could be renamed Lake New Orleans after Katrina has passed.

What would Anderson say?

Re: To those along the US Gulf Coast

I feel for these people so deeply. I thought sitting through Hurricane Charley last year was difficult, this is so much worse.

My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Re: To those along the US Gulf Coast

I was just in New Orleans last year -- such a beautiful, charming, and historic city. I hope some of its famous structures are spared, but it's not looking good.
