What are your favourite books?

I didn't see a thread about books so I made one where one can talk about books

I enjoy thriller books and recently read "Death in Vienna" by Daniel Silva which was good!

I like lots of fantasy like Lord of The Rings as well!

Hope someone else likes books and will post about books here

Re: What are your favourite books?

Apart from the books I have to read for uni, I really enjoy reading crime stories, like the novels by Elizabeth George or Minette Walters.

And I really love Harry Potter, that's just so cute

One of the funniest books I've ever read is a German novel by Jan Weiler called "Maria, ihm schmeckt's nicht". There's no English translation yet, it's pretty new, sorry.

Wer das Abenteuer sucht, braucht nur ein paar Rechnungen nicht pünktlich zu zahlen.

Re: What are your favourite books?

Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver is my ultimate favorite.
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (tied for second)
The Awakening by Kate Chopin
Their Eyes Were Watching God - Zora Neale Hurston (I liked it even before Oprah made it into a movie )

I'm reading Anna Karenina right now, and I think I'm going to read Love in the Time of Cholera after I finish Anna Karenina (if I ever finish it... lol).

Re: What are your favourite books?

Even though that's one of the most famous literary quotes, I never remember it. lol The quote I remember more is about Marlow feeling like he's at the edge of a precipe and looking over until the darkness. "The horror, the horror" is Kurtz's revelation point, I prefer Marlow's revelation point.

well, to be honest, I remember that quote due to the Marlon Brando's whisper in the end of "Apocalypse Now"

From the movie I remember the reporter that sounds like he's on a drug trip.
