Deutschland Tour

If everything goes to plan, Jani should win it... hopefully the ledger that is the world of cycling will balance itself out somewhat, although it still has a lot of ground to make up.

Re: Deutschland Tour

Yay! More cycling threads! Big win for Bram Tankink yesterday, in fact his first victory as a pro! Despite his fall a few km's before the finish line, he still won by quite a margin and now leads the general, sprint and mountain rankings!

17 (yes, yes, yes!) Slams! And counting....

Ullrich wants home win in Germany

With some of his top T-Mobile teammates running support, captain Jan Ullrich plans to "fight for victory" in his home race, as the nine-day Tour of Germany begins today with the 170km trek through Eastern Germany.

"To me there's no doubt I want to fight for the victory," Ullrich said of his plan's for the magenta army at home.

Six Tour de France racers will be part of that T-Mobile sqaud, which includes the departing Alexander Vinokourov.

The 31-year old Ullrich spoke fondly of Vino, who will be be departing to Liberty Seguros next season, in the lead up to the German tour.

"Vino is a great professional. As long as he rides in magenta, he will give it his all for the team."

Vino won the Deutschland-Tour in 2001, while Ullrich has never won it.

Also racing for Bonn-based squad toward the ultimate destination of Bonn are Matthias Kessler, Stephan Schreck and Tobias Steinhauser and the Italian Giuseppe Guerini.

"If I can keep my form of the previous weeks, I think I can mix it at the front and battle for victory," said Ullrich.

perhaps this has something to do with it:

"A cold has forced Alexander Vinokourov out of Saturday's classic, however the Kazakh is still pencilled in to race next week's Tour of Germany alongside Ullrich." - 11 August 2005

No positive dope tests during 2005 Tour

"There were no positive dope tests from the urine and blood samples taken from cyclists during the 2005 Tour de France, the sport's ruling body said on Wednesday. One sample did contain the stimulants pseudoephedrine and norpseudoephedrine."

Thanks for the standing, its. For some reason, I'm having trouble with that website link...and you know there's no coverage of it here in the US.

I love my girls.
