Re: Tour de France 2003

The sprinters ruled the day today, with Petacchi (Fassa Bortolo) taking the first full stage of the centenary tour. There was a large crash within the last 500 meters, with numerous riders getting caught up in the carnage, Lance was caught up in it, but came through relatively unhurt. Tyler Hamilton with the bad luck of the day, a contender no longer in the race, a broken collar bone taking him out of the race.

I hope Amstrong won't win this year and i hope someone will fight with him because it was boring to know who will win after one , two mountain stages.

Today (Saturday) they start the mountains

Should be very interesting

Many say Lance will make a move today. My money is on someone like Botero or Mayo

Re: Tour de France 2003

I was waiting all week for today, because the mountains are the best part of the tour de France. C'mon Lance!

Richard Virenque won

He took the Yellow Jersey and the Polka-dot

I never really liked him - seems too arrogant and full of himself - but he deserved the win and both jerseys.

Tomorrow will be a hell of a day

Yeah, it will be a hell of a day - pity British Eurosport coverage doesn't kick in until 3pm our time. I suppose we'll catch the ascent of l'Alpe d'Huez, but isn't there another major climb before that? Col du Galibier?
The mountains are the best bit!

Hmm...it's not only Sunday that gets ruined by motorsport - it's usually the whole frigging weekend, so I suppose I should be grateful for the amount of TdeF we got today!

I'm just not the grateful type!

I hope Lance or Michael Boogerd will win today. There are always lots of Dutch fans on the Alpe d'Huez, Dutch people often call it 'the Dutch mountain' because lot's of Dutch people did win there.

I would be happy for Boogerd and Rabobank if they get the stage today but Michael doesn't seem to be in very good shape

My bet is either Lance or a good climber who is out of the race for the Yellow Jersey (like Botero or Simoni). A pity the Pirate isn't here

Ivan Mayo won

Lance took the Yellow Jersey but did not look very convincing.

Perhaps he is showing signs of mortality ?

Re: Tour de France 2003

i didnt really understand if today was just a bad day for Lance and he did prefer to let Mayo go (considering that Mayo isnt that good in TT)...or maybe how u said Lance is showing sings of mortality.
