A question for anyone from South America re: Copa Libertadores

Sorry to take up a thread for this but my spanish is awful and can't find any place on the web that explains it in english.

Why is River Plate playing another SFs match? They lost their SF match last week. And they are playing the same team again tonight.

I don't understand.

Does it go by best of 3?

Re: A question for anyone from South America re: Copa Libertadores

It's exactly like the europeans champions league, 2 matchs of semi-finals. The first was in Brazil São Paulo 2 x 0 River Plate , and tonight will be the second in Argentina. The difference is that in Libertadores has also 2 matchs in the final, and not only one like in Champions League.

Re: A question for anyone from South America re: Copa Libertadores

So what if River wins tonight? Do they then go by the number of goals by each team and that decides who goes to the finals?

I have La Previa on TV now for the River game.

I know there are a lot of non-River fans here, but I hope River wins! lol!

Re: A question for anyone from South America re: Copa Libertadores

Yes, number of goals , but who scored goal outside has advantage

So in Brazil : São Paulo 2 x 0 River Plate
Tonight if : RP 2 x 0 SP = penaltys
if : RP 3 X 1 SP = São Paulo go to the final
if : RP 4 X 2 SP = SP in the final

Re: A question for anyone from South America re: Copa Libertadores

Yep, that's pretty much correct.

Tonight:
River Plate (ARG) vs Sao Paulo (BRA), in Argentina.
Sao Paulo def. River Plate 2-0 in Brazil last week.

Tomorrow:
Chivas de Guadalajaras (MEX) vs Atletico-PR (BRA), in Mexico.
Atletico-PR def. Chivas 3-0 in Brazil last week.

So it's all heading for an all-Brazilian final for this year's Copa Libertadores. I hope it happens because recently Brazil's teams weren't doing all that great at it. I hope Sao Paulo wins the whole thing, but I don't mind Atletico. But still, too much ahead of us, so good luck!

Re: A question for anyone from South America re: Copa Libertadores

Thanks for the info.

And me too Daniel - I hope River wins!

I wish I was there...its just about to start, and everyone is jumping up and down, and all the red fire crackers going off, and streamers flying. How cool...

Someday maybe I can go to a game. But I have to say, looking at the crowd its all guys...maybe there's a reason women don't go? Seems kind of crazy there...but fun!

Re: A question for anyone from South America re: Copa Libertadores

Sao Paulo defeated River Plate, 3-2 and classifies for the final.
No matter its opponent, I hope Sao Paulo wins this title!

The River Plate crowd started to throw objects at Sao Paulo's supporters after the team scored its 3rd goal. Will this ridiculous hostility EVER end?

Don't worry Lucas, this kind of behavior will never change the scorebord. What an amazing day for us !!!!!! Brazil 4 x 1 Argentina, and São Paulo 3 x 2 River Plate !!!!!
