Re: Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

One should seriously consider the possibility that the fudge factors you had to introduce to "explain" why stars and galaxies behave the way they do aren't actually real.

Re: Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

What is it with you and fudge? Thanks for the bad rep, btw. I'll have a personal talk with baby Jesus later.

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins...

Re: Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

Fudge factors.

This is all against dark matter and dark energy, right?

You're revolving cosmology upon these single theories? BTW, they aren't even discussed in this documentary. It's a quest against them for you? Yeah, they're theories, yeah, I'm not convinced by them, no, they are not presented as fact, yes, they are the best we have right now.

Next?

Probably my favorite thing said ever. I loved watching Cosmos as a kid, though it was produced a few years before my time.

Re: Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

I've only seen it a few months ago for the first time. The closest television has ever come to poetry.
Just watched Carl Sagan's last interview with Charlie Rose as well. A hard-core atheist, that one.

Was legit laughing at Jan Oort's fedora tip and the random marijuana shout out. What a strange show.

Re: Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

Pretty normale episode last Sunday.

Anyway, a quote from the 4th episode:

As we look up into space we can see the light from stars that no longer exist, it truly is a sky full of ghosts. In one second light travels 186,000 miles, that is nearly the distance between the earth and the moon. The moon is therefore around 1 light second away, so when you next look at the moon, remember that you are looking one second into the past.

How about this latest episode for inspiration.

I wish the whole world would see it, maybe we can finally wake up.
