And in the case of Germany, they just need some practise and competition because they don't need to qualify and from playing friendlies against Ireland or other little teams that have time to play exhibition matches, you don't get so much better and you can't draw enough conclusions from your play.
Good point you have there mate. That's the problem with international football, you just can't build a team in the short time before a friendly or qualify match.
But on the other hand, next season is going to be extremely tough for most of the players. For example Karim Saidi, playing at my team Feyenoord and playing for Tunesia at the Confed Cup. We don't have a winter break anymore this year in Holland, so this summer was his only chance to get a short time off before the competition starts and right after that the World Cup. And when he's out of the World Cup, training for the new season already starts. That can't be good for the player's overall fitness.

Brazil!

I didn't see the match today, but read and heard it was a good match overall from Brazil and that our offensive players had chemistry and timing on to get away with a win.

Brazil's not playing with Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and Cafu, so I don't know if this team can hold on top performances for much longer, didn't seem to against Argentina not too long ago, but did a good job against Paraguay.

Vamos, Brazil!

Roger Federer

Richard Gasquet, Marcos Baghdatis, Tomas Berdych, Evgeny Korolev, Stanislas Wawrinka, Fabrice Santoro, Paul-Henri Mathieu, etc

Humm... I don't think so... even when they won the Eurocup I disliked them, I hate defensive team , but it was great result for Greece anyway . I remember some years ago when everybody celebrated when have Greece in the draw , was somenthing like "this is a security good result for us" , because everybody won easy Greece and now... they are Euro champion .

lol You are way too much spoiled coming from Brazil You must understand for most European teams (especially for Greece who did it with minimum of player capabilities, no big superstars on the team), defense and fighting not to allow goals is the MAIN key to win matches because they don't have so many offensively good players like Brazil or Argentina. And that's why I'm mad at the German team because a 1-0 for Germany is better than a 4-3 (like against Australia). With that kind of defense Germany have no chance to only survive preeliminary group next year at the World Cup because they can't score 4 goals every time. But if they don't allow goals, they can always score the deciding goal or finally win in a penalty shoot-out if necessary (just like back in World Cup 2002, very strong result even though they were not playing well before and not so well during the tournament).

Neely, I really understand what you mean . I know that the players from Brazil/Argentina is different that europeans. But you can't equal Germany 2002 with Greece2004 . In the last world cup Germany had a defensive team, of course Oliver Kahn helps a lot but wait a minute, Germany made goals to arrive in the final, for exemple Klose did 5, Ballack did 3 . So now told me you, how many did Greece ? I just remember the first match against Portugal, they won 2x0 . OMG, no no, Germany and Greece aren't the same thing. You can play defensive, but to be champion or even just make the final you need some goals.

Re: FIFA Confederations Cup Germany 2005

Yes, Germany made some goals in 2002, that's right But most of them in the group games; during the elimination round they were kind of minimalists when they won three matches in a row by a 1-0 scoreline; against Paraguay, USA and South Korea.

Klose made 5 goals, but not important goals, three goals alone came in that 8-0 victory against Saudi Arabia
Ballack was the man for the important goals, two decisive goals in the 1-0 victories on the road to the final.

2002 was really surprising for me because I never thought they are going to reach the final, but to do something very good again in 2006 next year they need to be defensively much better. And therefore they get lots of critizism because the thinking is different in German football, a 1-0 is considered as "better" than a 4-3 win (because it primarly counts how many goals they allow and not how many they score). In South American football offense has much more weight because they have spectatular offensive players and strikers who can do awesome dribblings and who can score lots of goals out of any situations.

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy
