Michael Schumacher: Jean Todt "hope" he can lead a relatively normal life

The accident took place in the French ski resort of Meribel on Sunday morning. He was skiing off-piste with his son, fell and hit his head against a rock. The resort's director, Christophe Gernignon-Lecomte, said Schumacher was attended to by two ski patrollers who requested helicopter evacuation to the nearby valley town of Moutiers. Early reports had said his condition was not life-threatening and he reportedly walked away from the accident complaining only of feeling a bit shaken. However a statement later released:

"Mr Schumacher was admitted to the University Hospital of Grenoble at 12:40 [11:40 GMT], following a skiing accident which occurred in Meribel in the late morning. He suffered a severe head injury with coma on arrival, which required immediate neurosurgical intervention. He remains in a critical situation."

Flashbacks of Senna

Not the same circumsances, but terrible for the sport

"I did not play my best tennis, no? And..that is what enable him to win..to win this match no? "

Prospects are bleak.
I hope Schumi recovers, but I fear for his life.

17 (yes, yes, yes!) Slams! And counting....

Sad.
Good luck to him and his family. They'll need it!

(However, I'll never get the passion people have over the F1, to be honest.)

No regeneration found yet. zzZzzzZZzz.
Where is Steven Moffat when you need him?
Tennis needs a major plot twist, right now.

For someone to drive over 250km/h all his life and have this almost take it away...

Re: Michael Schumacher in critical condition after skiing accident

The guy I resented for most of his career. The guy that won everything. The guy that was the main rival of my all time favourite Hakkinen.

As a kid when he was at Ferrari I really disliked him, but ever since he retired and came back at Mercedes, I could finally appreciate what he has done for the sport, and what a legend he is. There is no debate in F1, he is the GOAT, without question. Only Senna comes close because of 'what could've been'.

And now on this day, I'm extremely sad and don't quite know what to say. You live fast, you die fast. Guess that's the fate of the great F1 champions. But he's not gone yet, let's hope the doctors can perform a few miracles.

poor schumi, never liked him as a racer, seemed to push the rules a bit far, but hope he is okay

Re: Michael Schumacher in critical condition after skiing accident

Here in Chile people love to call themselves schumachers as slang for good drivers so it was fitting that Schumacher himself recorded this little commercial for us.

hope he recovers

Re: Michael Schumacher in critical condition after skiing accident

Sad news, hope he recovers. Skiing outside the official slopes is always risky, and knowing formula 1 -drivers he probably was going pretty fast. Bad luck to hit his head on a rock... sounds bad !
