Re: Who is the best emergent diva of pop?

Mr.oracle wants to say he wants to add Paris Hilton to the talented list

I agree she has a special voice

So special she needs to keep it to herself to save it

Hug it out as long as it takes, people

Zet, what's your favorite band?

Give her a break. She only is 17 of something. She still can peak.

You have to look outside of POP to find a true "singer". Although I am not a fan of Lady Gaga's, friends of mine who saw her in concert say she is very talented. Good voice and very good piano player. Not my style though.

Mariah Carey sadly was blessed with great pipes, but believed that doing difficult scales 9 octaves apart made for good music - sorry M, not impressed.

I kinda liked snora jones. Rihana's "lucy in the sky with diamonds hack" is nice too, I like Adele, I find Lana Del Ray's voice somehow resonates with me "emotionally" (very enchanting)

Keeping thinking that one day Lady Gaga will tell us it was all a hoax.

One should be so lucky. If folks like jazz ( although I don't consider her true jazz but hard to fit her in any of today's categories) check out Melody Gardot.

She had a concert in Spain last year. Classical and smooth voice.

Writes her own music; incredible story to her getting into music and I think she is gorgeous

Impressive that she's a lyricist as well, most singers today just do the old classic standards; Michael Bubbles writes his own stuff but he's hardly Jazz despite what he says

On the male side, sometimes I think Kurt Elling hints at the glory of a bygone era: Sinatra, Johnny Hartman, Bennett, Dean Martin, but sadly something important "cannot be found."

BTW on the female side, I forgot Diana Krall who's not too shabby, but again, she only hints at the glory of the previous Diva's.
