Family Guy is far more crude and dark. I prefer that type of humor.

Re: The Simpsons Thread

No surprise that Burrow poo poos on the Simpsons

As for the Family Guy comparison, Simpsons I've always enjoyed more in terms of storyline, characters, etc.

When it comes to quick jokes, shock humor and things of that nature, it is obviously Family Guy.

The Simpsons, however, does not contain so many cutaways, musical numbers, chicken fights, Peter wasting time doing nothing, etc. Simpsons does not have as much dead time in their show.

I still think Futurama tops them all, personally.

Agreed. I find that because so much of Family Guy's humour relies on cutaways and general randomness it loses a lot of its punch on repeat viewing.

Re: The Simpsons Thread

Perhaps the most ridiculous peripheral Simpsons character. There's some later season garbage from about 2:05 on (though I rather like the Prisoner reference at the very end):

That compilation doesn't include one of my favorite Moleman moments. Sorry for the poor quality:

Agassi | Nadal
Almagro | Coria | Ferrer | Haas | Nalbandian | Nishikori | Robredo | Wawrinka
Bautista Agut | Bellucci | Blake | Dimitrov | Dodig | Ferrero | Fognini | Gasquet | Hewitt | Kohlschreiber | Murray | Raonic | Rosol | Seppi | Tsonga | Tursunov | Verdasco

Re: The Simpsons Thread

The Simpsons was absolutely amazing for the first 9 seasons, and season 10 was when the decline started IMO. I think they might have changed writers around that time but I'm not sure.

Regarding Family Guy, I think that the two South Park episodes 'Cartoon Wars' which completely ripped the show as being a bunch of random interchangeable jokes, kind of ruined it for me. I never found it as funny afterwards.

Re: The Simpsons Thread

How can you compare Family Guy and The Simpsons with each other, when Simpsons is far more PGish compared to Family Guy, and barely ever uses curse words or stuff like that ?

What I like about The Simpsons is the fact that they did their best to incorporate a bit of crude adult humour in the most clever ways.

Kind of like Shrek series of movies, where you could have kids enjoy it, but there was enough adult jokes in there that the adults found it enjoyable also.

Re: The Simpsons Thread

Can't bring myself to watch either Simpsons or the Family Guy. But then again I don't get many English comedies and jokes.
