Happy birthday Fidel!!

A highly important revolutionary leader turns 87 today.

Let's wish a happy birthday to Fidel Castro!

But he still is alive?

As usually say spanish speakers in these cases: "No está vivo, está mal enterrado"

I doubt you would survive a week living as a Cuban in that island prison.

I'm pro-Fidel, why would I end up in their prisons?

I mean that for Cubans in general the island is a prison. The Communist Party members are the prison guards and have total control over your life. You would probably go nuts just living the typical Cuban existence.

Would you be for having no Internet in your own country, no choice of TV, no books other than Communist Party literature, no newspapers other than the Communist Party propaganda sheet, no choice of job, no free speech, no chance of ever going on vacation, no opportunity to go to a shop unless you have foreign money?

If this does not sound like a good life to you, why do you wish it on the poor Cubans?

actually I didn't think anyone would take my apporval of Castro's tyranny seriously

think I've also misread 'island's prison' instead of island prison.

I stayed there many times. Cubans are not admitted. So no, a tourist only hotel does not qualify for the Cuban experience.

A somewhat well known cuban dissident visited my country last week. She met some of the right and centre political leaders to denounce the horror of cuba. then she left the country to go back to cuba where she was well received.

Doesn't quite sound like the Cuban "prison" is going to be in "total control over your life" if you can go back freely there in spite of your public criticism.
