Any controller that normally works on a PC should be fine. If you only have a console controller, I believe the Xbox 360 controller is designed for the PC and will not require much setup; Dualshock 3 isn't and you'll need to download some free third party software to make it work. The Dualshock 3 setup isn't very intuitive, so you might want to go another route if you're not confident with computers.
There are organized groups that play online. The most prominent one that I'm aware of is ITST; you'll need to download their free mod from the official Tennis Elbow forum to play with them (mods only work on the FULL version of the game BTW). Type in 'ITST tennis elbow' on Youtube to see how their matches look. And I'm almost certain you can't do voice with the game, and I suspect you can't text either but I don't do online so I'm not sure.
Edit: Apparently you CAN text, so disregard my last point.
I have an Xbox 360 controller, an official one and a mad catz controller so if you're telling me this will work then I will probably give this game a go at some point.
So is everything else free, aside from purchasing the game? It's not like Top Spin where you've to pay for everything else is it?
They should figure a way to get voice involved.

I like playing manager and doing the years from 2000-2005 and seeing things like El Aynaoui come from two sets down to beat Agassi in the US Open final and Paradorn winning Wimbledon happen.
What's "manager"? So every player from years gone by is on this game?
