I am probably even worse in real life. I work for an insurance company that administrates benefits on behalf of a trade union, and one of my jobs is to answer the phone for member enquiries. Most of our members are just a bunch of self-important, entitled whiners. All most of them ever do is bitch and moan about how long it takes to get a reimbursement, and expect us to pay for the most ridiculous things too. They think they can just call in and argue and get what they want. For some reason the dumb asses all seem to think they pay for their health benefits, and I have to constantly inform them that no, their employer pays for everything, and if you have to pay for it yourself it's not a "benefit". They always pass the more difficult ones over to me because they know I'll handle them. Most of them end up regretting they ever called after dealing with me. In fact, some will call in again and start giving my co-workers a hard time and the moment they mention they will transfer them to me, the idiots hang up.
My favourite line (the one I am most famous around the office for and everybody quotes) is when the members tell me that they "pay my salary". And I simply say to them, "There is a name at the bottom of my paycheque, and it is most certainly not yours. Nice try though."
There actually have been a few who called after hours and left anonymous messages saying my name and "fuck you bitch!!"
How gutless and pathetic. I also have a very good memory and if I ever get claims for members who have given me a hard time in the past, I'll be sure to make them jump through the hoops to get any money back... they didn't sign the form properly, they used black ink instead of blue, the receipt is torn and missing important information.... oh and some I've even just thrown out their claim totally and said we never received it.
And if any of them dare to show their face at the office, I'll be happy to tell my co-workers afterwards what STD medications they are on (if applicable, although it seems all of these trade workers seem to pick up STD's at some point). Don't mess with me, basically.
I blame my job for making me an evil bitch.
