Is 1984 the best book ever?

I find it amazing, especially the system. I would be extremely happy to live in Oceania. I would love Big Brother with all my heart. I would hate Goldstein with all my heart. I believe that's the world we are all seeking for!

WAR IS PEACE!

Yes, great book and perfectly resumes the situation we are currently living in on MTF.

I've only read Animal Farm, but I loved it. Anyone else read both to share an opinion?

Death of a Salesman, because it teaches us a fundamental lecture in life, and that is to dare to disturb the universe. Gives me chills every time. 1984 is a great book too.

Both beautiful books to live by, comrade.

[out of character]Animal Farm is more of a satire. 1984 is a more straight forward plot-driven novel. Great read, both of them.[/in character]

I have never read the Great Gatsby, but know the story through the movie. Is it true that Gatsby is gay? There's a conspiracy about it.

That's the first I've heard of that. You mean book-Gatsby or film-Gatsby? It might be a weird interpretation in the film (which I have not yet seen) but he's definitely not gay in the book.

1984 is Bourgeois propaganda designed to scare workers out of seeing the oppression around them in their capitalist society. George Orwell was a traitor.

Re: Is 1984 the best book ever?

1984 is a fine book, but it tells exactly what Big Brother must fight against: people who believe that denouncing the scam of doublethinking could actually believe we wanted to control the society when in fact we really want to control the society because the society being controlled is for our own good! So in the end, Orwell only opened our eyes to the true ultimate form of society and I am pleased to know that we are achieving it. Good job, comrades.

Re: Is 1984 the best book ever?

This begs the question, which MTF poster is each Animal Farm character equivalent to?

Napolean?
Snowball?
Boxer?
Squealer?
Clover?
The dogs?

etc...
