And what was she supposed to do? Keep driving UK further towards socialism? Giving money to those who didn't earn them? Tolerating the parasites in the trade unions?
You know, I lived in USSR and I live in Russia. We had to go through mass privatisation, dissolving the unions, the miners crisis, etc. And we could only dream of tackling all the problems as efficiently as Thatcher did.
I can't comment on non social-economic issues but I read quite a lot about Hillsborough and I don't see how one can conclude Thatcher tried to 'cover up' the tragedy.
And she hated communism (rightfully so) hence her remakrs on Mandela and staunch support for Pinochet.
So you think a murderous brutal dictator like Pinochet deserved support and a hero like Mandela was a communist?
Thatcher and her boot boys smeared the Hillsborough dead and blamed them for her boot boys' incompetence. A complete and utter cover-up. It was only Liverpool though, only Merseyside she destroyed. If it had been Londoners involved her attitude might have differed.
Thatcherism and it's 'divide and rule' policies turned the whole country against each other and into a class war of rich telling the middle class to blame the poor.
As for money for those that earn it what about those who need welfare, like the disabled, or those with a serious illness, or those scraping at the bottom of the barrel, you see right-wingers like yourself are all the same, you peddle a myth that only those who 'work hard' deserve money, when so many people wanted to work hard and couldn't because she put the unemployment levels up to a massive scale with her privatisation. Unemployment was at a record scale under her premiership especially in the northern working class cities
As for the USSR/Russia, I don't care. I'm not as qualified to judge the performance of Putin, Yeltsin, Gorbachev as you are, the same way you have no business patronising someone like me whose community was destroyed by Thatcher's policies when you're watching from way afar.
