Terrible sports injuries

This one happened today

Definitely one of the worst I have ever seen. It's really scary that these athletes in all sports go so hard physically, that realistically this can happen at any moment.

Kei Nishikori, Donald Young, Somdev Devvarman, Dustin Brown, Steve Johnson, Yannick Maden
Robert Farah, Clement Reix, Alexander Dolgopolov, Nathan Thompson

Re: Terrible sports injuries

That was gruesome, just horrible to watch.

Also you got to love the youtube comments. People offering their prayers; as if that will do anything

Game over. Forever.

Re: Terrible sports injuries

The prayers are just people who feel bad but realize they can't do anything about it.

Ware had successful surgery later that day, so he will try to recover in the future.

Re: Terrible sports injuries

David Busst's injury was terrible.

The picture of that one is probably the worst I've seen sports injury wise, his shin bending across the turf in a 90 degree angle as his bones snapped. He was forced to retire in the end because of the complications surrounding the injury, but was lucky not to have lost it in the first place.

Re: Terrible sports injuries

I'm looking at the picture and I'm shocked. I've seen a lot of sports injuries, had a couple of nasty broken bones myself. But this, my god. Odds of them having to amputate?

Here's the link for anyone that's a bit curious, sick, twisted like me and wants to see it up close. BE WARNED! VERY SHOCKING FOOTAGE:

Re: Terrible sports injuries

He's had surgery straight away yesterday and they expect him to make a full recovery (well as full as any recovery from such an injury can be) barring any complications.

Some suspect he's had stress fractures that went unhealed, which resulted in his leg buckling like that eventually.

Re: Terrible sports injuries

It's odd that it was basketball. All the other horror injuries in sports that I know of come from American football and soccer. Because in those sports there is the full force and weight of another person that can go against your leg. In this instance it was just a landing from a jump.

Kei Nishikori, Donald Young, Somdev Devvarman, Dustin Brown, Steve Johnson, Yannick Maden
