Re: Hugo Chavez dies of cancer

RIP Great leader, only mistake he did was getting too much into Colombian's internal conflict(triying to help), that affected his popularity a lot and made him a target for critics from both countries. Nice to see the clowns celebrating because they are going to regain Venezuela's resources to fill their pockets when in the last 15 years those resources have been used in the development of the country.

It will be interesting to see if the new leadership can avert Venezuela's economy from collapsing as a result of the ruinious way it was run by Chavez.

Re: Hugo Chavez dies of cancer

I'm not brainwashed, I dont like ppl who are tyrant or anti-semite, I think the fact he was super socialist was holding back his country making them depend only about oil, had his own tv show and was scaring investment from the country, what would the ppl will do if the oil prices will be law? Why not develope ppl make them more educated and not dependend on one research? I find oil a curse that hold back a lot if countries.

One thing I will say to his fav, I have no doubt he loved his country even thought he left her in a problem bc of his death

Hug it out as long as it takes, people
--------------------------------------------
"People were created to be loved
things were created to be used.
The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved, and people are being used."

"יברכך ה' וישמרך,יאר ה' פניו אליך ויחונך,ישא ה' פניו אליך וישם לך שלום"

Re: Hugo Chavez dies of cancer

RIP Chavez, another bigger than life character is gone.

indeed he was a highly controversial figure, BUT if he was good for Venezuelans then he should be more than good for me.
He was for sure the favourite of the majority of people in the country.
I might disagree with some of his leftist policies, and authoritarian moves BUT he was also proponent of true freedom for his country.
Many people believe he was just a dictator who obtained the power by force. In reality, he beat all his relevant opponents at fair elections, even while the media in the country was against him, and actually he was himself deposed by a coup sponsored by the US.
A gross distortion of the truth indeed.

This is worth watching imo, just to have a more balanced view and to see to what extent global moguls owned media can distort reality... Mr. Oliver Stone made an interesting documentary a while ago..

It is indeed double standard. General de Gaulle would also ally with some "devil incarnate" tyrants. That never made him a communist.

The problem is that there are reasons to criticize Chavez. But they are totally opposite. He's not a friend of tyrants', he's a friend of the Western democracies, and that's the problem.

He did build up the UNASUR, didn't he? And that's the South-American common market, just like the EU common market ...

So he's a libertarian, period.

But how can the decerebrated Westerners understand that?

I mean the mass never could become a Schubert or a Shakespeare. The mass can't understand geopolitics, period.

Re: Hugo Chavez dies of cancer

Anyone denying how much he did for the Venezuelan people by simply calling him a "dictator" misses the big picture. He had his errors and exaggerations, but he was a highly positive force in South America. RIP.

Viruzzz, please elaborate a little bit, what do you think about Chavez?
What you don't like the most about him?

Also, how do you feel about Kirchner, and do you vote in Argentina?

Well I first saw it on Finnish trustworthy news sites so I figured it was probably all over the world as well. Came to see if there was a thread here, there wasn't so I made one.

I could've posted the links to the Finnish sites though...

So I need to state that my opinion is my opinion? Not that difficult to figure that out.

As it is not too difficult to do some research and have a look about what happened in Venezuela for the last years: yes, dodgy populism and media control, but great social achievements for the population. Illiteracy is close to zero, they have the best income distribution in South America, farmers and fishers have guaranteed income when they retire. Also, he stood up against the power of big corporations and the US, something that (as a South American) I presume you know as well as I do.
