He is my fave Chinese, but he is really an outside favorite of mine. My top fave is a future hope from Japan: Niwa Koki (18 years old).

Then you should refrain from making claims as if you were one.

Great point, but nothing out of this world

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Re: Table Tennis, the best/craziest point ever, must see

thanks guys for posting these great videos. I admit I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to table tennis, but I'm learning . it's actually very interesting to see that many of you are actually very familiar with this shall I say 'underrated sport', meaning you can watch poker on TV every day in North America, but not table tennis which seems to be much more interesting sport than poker which is IMHO not a sport but whatever ...

Exhibitions are always like that.

Waldner is one of the best most talented and greatest athletes of our time. It is shame he is not better known.

But Zhang Jike is the strongest player IMO, Olympic and World champion. You can't take that away him, though Ma Long didn't play in the Olympics due to the 2 player per country limit.

That type of point is really nothing special. Happens all the time.

Waldner is a legend.

correct. Table tennis used to be more even between offense/defense but developments in the game has all but removed the defensive specialists and now it's generally regarded as suicide to "wait for errors".

Modern table tennis is very much about taking command of the point and being on attack is the best defense. But spin-wise the game is a lot crazier than tennis and it's not just about topspin. Side-spin, backspin etc. must also be mastered.

Reason both Waldner and Persson for example were still good enough to reach Olympic semi-finals at 40+ is that it's not just about reflexes. It's also a lot about experience. Being able to read spins and patterns of play can count for more than being insanely fast or having great endurance.

That was yesterday. Didn't watch yet, but it seems Zhang Jike really outplayed him. He is the current world champion and Olympic champion btw.
