True, the most egregious examples of following humanist doctrine are 20th century tragedies
And the most encouraging ones are advanced, democratic societies with the highest levels of human development index.
Why pick only the "egregious" ones?
And lol at defining regimes like Pol Pot's as "humanist". Communism is an ideology not unlike most religions.
, but most of the societies in the world before that time were very much theist, whether they were aboriginal, such as the native americans (the belief of a creator, and knowledge of his moral code), or any of the other world religions.
Most of the societies were also sexist, racist, homophobic and had a tendency to consider some human beings as the property of others. That's why we have a thing called progress.
I posted a link to some of the most educated scientific minds who are currently practicing, who believe in the concept of intelligent design, and who are a lot more knowledgeable than you or me. Bros there is nothing "funny" about it, and there are no "nutjobs" in the house. No idea who you're referring to.
Wow, that must be the most bold-faced appeal authority I've ever seen.
You're basically saying that because some smart people believe in God and they're smart, then they're right and we should STFU.
Quite frankly, it's a bit odd that you'd choose that line or argument, since there are a great deal of studies that show that religious belief is indirectly proportional with IQ and education. The more educated a person is, the least likely it is that they are religious believers.
For instance, despite over 80% of Americans profess a belief in a personal God, only 7% of their leading scientists do.
