Lance Armstrong set for tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey

And so it happens. Hold on to your seats.

Quote:
Armstrong set for tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey

Air date January 17

Lance Armstrong will give his first interview since being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles later this month when he appears on the 'Oprah's Next Chapter' program on her eponymous US cable television network.

The interview, which will go to air on January 17 will also be available simultaneously through the network's website.

Armstrong was the focus of the United States Anti-Doping Agency's investigation which labelled the US Postal team's operation as "the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen" on October 10, 2012. USADA stripped Armstrong of all results from August 1, 1998 when he declined to contest charges of doping in late August and handed the Texan a lifetime ban all of which was later ratified by cycling's governing body, the UCI.

The 41-year-old will give the interview from his home in Texas.

A media release on Oprah.com said that "Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating, and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career."

Now Cyclingnews and others are calling this a tell-all interview, but I´d personally be a little more cautious. A full confession would get Armstrong into a bigger clusterfuck than he´s already in. That being said, not confessing would result in the weirdest interview ever. "That doping thing Oprah, it was all a witch-hunt. I'm really here to raise awareness for the fight against cancer."

I fully expect him to deny all accusations

So how much money is he getting for it? Oprah might have "encouraged" him with a dollar or two Armstrong is an amazing businessman. First doped his way to millions, now he just keeps adding. Probably laughs all the way to the bank. What's next? another book?

Best thing US should do with him is just swipe him under a rug and pretend he never existed.

He's a socipath and expert liar. Either way no one cares about him any more, confession or not. Apart of course, from the people who rightly want their money back.

i can forgive an Athlete who stumbled once or twice, Admitted his wrongs, gave all the money and awards back and Decided to become a spokesperson against drugs \ cheating in sports.

Lance Armstrong isnt that kind of a person.
he cheated for so long it was a way of life for him, he made the Cycling industry a joke and prevented others to win trophies he won unjustly.

put him in Jail

Hug it out as long as it takes, people

The cycling industry during those years was a joke with or without Armstrong, and those who didn't win were on doping too.

How's the weather over in Disneyland?

I don't want to know how you'd react if you found out the truth behind tennis.

Re: Lance Armstrong set for tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey

While he is one of the worst cheaters in history, making him a scapegoat for the entire failings of pro cycling in general isn't the right thing to do. He needs to be punished sure, but this scandal needs to ignite something more fundamental in changing the cycling world. It appears to have moved on, but there is always that doubt now. UCI needs to be shuffled up big time.

This is much funnier if you're into cycling and have followed the whole Armstrong affair, but here you go. Bingo Strong.
