No Bond movie can ever beat "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die!". Instant classic for instant greatness.

Of the choices in the poll, top 3 are From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, & Live & Let Die, in that order. Skyfall has unquestionably been overhyped.

I really liked "Golden Eye", but the best ones are the ones with Connery probably.

"The Spy Who Loved Me" is my favourite. Moore & Connery are miles ahead of the others IMO.

Re: Favourite James Bond Movie

From Russia With Love by a country mile.

It had the best Bond, the best plot - a genuine spy thriller, good direction - shades of Hitchcock, great Bond girl, and two great baddies.

Also, Bond discovering Robert Shaw (Grant?) is an imposter when he orders the wrong wine is classic.

I'd say Goldfinger and Dr. No are the next best on this list. I do feel that if Connery had only been available for On Her Majesty's Secret Service then it would have been up there. It's also got a great story and great set pieces. But Lazenby was utter wank.

Roger Moore's first is also really decent. Haven't seen Skyfall yet but wasn't overly impressed with Craig's Casino Royale.

Well, tell me what is Hitchcockian about From Russia With Love.

As a die-hard Hitchcock fan, I find it amazing.

The typical Hitchcock film is based on a fatal accident that drives a common man into a nightmarish spy stories (at least until North By Northwest). 007 always has a well-defined mission.

Also if I'm not mistaken (a long time I saw the film), the MacGuffin is a well-defined Lector decoder, while in Hitchcock's films, it usually remains mysterious.

Hitchcock's films are also usually rather short on technological advancement too.

Agree with both sentence.

Though overall, Octopussy is as good as "The Spy...". I also like For Your Eyes Only, but I don't like Carole Bouquet, lol.

The Living Daylights.

Dalton was spectacular.

The only REAL 80's bond.

Re: Favourite James Bond Movie

Skyfall is very much overrated. It has a lot of references to old Bond movies (it's 50 year aniversery after all) so that's probably why Nostalgiatards love it, but as a movie it is predictable and not very engaging. Funny thing, I have seen every Bond movie except Living Daylights and License to kill (nothing against Dalton, it's just a coincidence), but I still can't honestly say I'm a Bond fan.

A few Bond movies I liked though:
Goldfinger
The man with the golden gun
Moonraker
GoldenEye
Casino Royale

Am I the only one who likes The World is not Enough

Probably because I grew up watching Brosnan as Bond that I like his movies so much. Yet to see Skyfall though
