I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy

Jimmy Kimmel asked parents to tell their kids they ate their Halloween candy, film the kids' reactions and send it to him.

I don't think it's funny, it's mean spirited and they're setting up their kids for public embarrassment. I mean, this seems like something only trashy parents would do

Re: I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy

Knowing me as a kid, if my parents had said or actually done something like this, I wouldn't cry. I'd end up getting back at them by doing something like putting something in their foods secretly or giving them the silent treatment for months

Re: I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy

My favorites are the two little girls who are bravely trying to fight through their disappointment, the kid in diapers who tried to beat up his mom/dad and from last year's- the little girl who called her dad ugly.

Re: I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy

These videos are adorable and hilarious and mean at the same time . Loved them last year and this year's one was good.

Hope that I will be able to raise my kids (if I ever have any) to behave as well as some of the kids did, with no tantrums whatsoever. Reacting with "It's ok" to losing all their Halloween candy, so darn adorable and well raised at the same time.

Why wait for Hallowe'en? They could get the same video to entertain Kimmel audiences by punching them in the face any old night. Hilarious.

Re: I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy

wow, this is so horrible. what's wrong with people?

I just heard there's a new reality show called "Prank Your Mom" or something like that. You tell your mom you wrecked her car or got arrested, let her make a fool of herself with her reaction, then say 'just kidding' and laugh at her... and all on TV in front of millions of people! Way to show your appreciation, like she doesn't have enough stress. Bet the participants have to sign a waiver claiming they won't sue the show in case their mom has a heart attack from the fake story; won't be so funny then.

And here we have kids being humiliated by their own parents. You hear about online bullying where someone does this to you in high school -- now we have parents doing it to their own kids, & at a much younger age. Your own parents lie to you in order to make you cry, then laugh at your emotional reaction and publicize it for the world to laugh at -- all while you're 5 years old so definitely not sophisticated enough to 'get the joke'.

Re: I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy

Aren't you all exaggerating a bit? This is a one time thing, that if done correctly, doesn't last over a couple of minutes. Of course some parents take it a bit too far, by letting the kid burst out crying. Like that one with the two kids sitting at the table, she probably shouldn't have taken it that far. But there are some really funny and cute reactions.

And that show you mentioned, Kat, you really can't compare one thing with the other.

Re: I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy

If the shoe was on the other foot…

This is just mean. I used to do things like that to my very young siblings, like steal their chocolate or ride their brand new scooter. It was a bunch of terrible mistakes that I truly regret. Nobody wants anyone to cry, and it's the worst feeling in the world to make someone else upset. I just don't like things like this, even if they are done for comic purposes. It always has to be at another human being's expense. Why?
