Re: A serious discussion on the term MUG and the negativity that surronds MTF atm. :(

You know what I'm revisiting this old thread again and giving it a bump.

I have truly immersed myself in the MTF community for the past 80 something posts and you know what... this place is amazing. I now frequent this place once a day and have found some notable people, who are pretty damn cool. Also I realize that in a 90 something bunch of apples, there is at least 10 rotten ones, but even the rotten ones have a place on this forum.

If anyone reads this thread or my message, learn from me and realize to take what people say here with a grain a salt. Also that there are plenty of awesome, nice, funny, sexy personalities on this forum and THAT... is what makes this place so great

Respectfully yours,
Kowchi

I agree. Calling any player at the top echelon of the game a "mug" is a grossly unfair representation. I dislike disparaging nicknames as well and detest when they call one player by another's name. (Eg. "Wayne Carlos Ferrero") I have had my own named rendered in a lot of unflattering ways, and don't like it done to anyone else. Even if I heartily dislike a player, I will use his or her real name.

funny that this post is close to 5 years old. I feel like the term mug has kind of disappeared, I see it nowhere near as often as I used to.
I never minded the term, it was kind of funny and it characterized MTF for me.

I do however feel like the negativity, trolling and blind fanboyism is really getting out of hand. Everyone who loses is described with words like pathetic and actually so are most of the winners. I think most of
us here are tennisplayers or at the very least avid fans of tennis. If anyone should have the utmost respect for the talent and hard work that is required for ALL top players working their ass off it's us. I know
this is hard at times (I'm looking at you Tomic), but really..can't we do better than this?

mug these days is very mild, and more tongue in cheek than anything else. More often embedded in a name, like Mugerer or Mugikori, Mugray, Muglos etc.

What you say is correct.

Definitely yes. I guess as the other platforms have become more popular, and the forums declined, now the hardcore fans/tards are probably more vocal and more visible than before.

It's the fault of the damn Ruins subforum. People are afraid to be even a little insulting now in GM.

You're right. It wasn't this bad at all when I joined but since not even the most notorious trolls get banned, this is what you get. I just wish more people would just ignore the biggest attention whores though... maybe then we'd have less of them. You don't even need to put them on the ignore list, just don't respond to their posts.

you probably have a point here. I think that after some time people realize someone is a troll and ignore him, but very often a new one pops up and then it takes awhile to see someone for what he/she is. By the way some people are posting I'd be very surprised if some of these trolls aren't just double accounts btw..

Why was SetSampras banned for? "Trolling" cited as the official reason? Everyone trolls here. It's MTF.

Mug ban, imo.

Nah, some of the most notorious trolls here have made a continuous history of successful trolling. RAFAism, Glenn, etc, have all been trolls who rile up MTF every time.

I'd add ACC GOAT StartdaGame but to this day I don't think he was a troll, he was just truly out of this world.

Ah, I see. I suppose he was AdvantageSampras?

I can understand a banned user making a DA but making a DA when you're allowed to use the one you have is ridiculous, especially considering the high chance of getting caught.

Please tell me it wasn't AdvantageSampras. I refuse to believe he can be that stupid.

I did think it was odd that there suddenly was 2-3 posters in GM going on about Sampras' greatness in every post... normally nobody gives a shit about Sampras here on MTF

This place corrupts you, I would never post this today.

Trolling is what makes MTF so great.

If you have an issue with a report/infraction, a user, a moderator or just want to talk, PM me.

I support Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, David Ferrer, Del Potro.

Why? Because I love tennis plain and simple
