I already addressed this. Look at the results, not polls. Every state (31 at last count) voted against gay marriage.

Seeing that around 200 million Americans oppose gay marriage, doesn't the personal attacks, overblown media reaction and boycott against one business owner seem utterly ridiculous? And all the evidence you need about the press pushing it's own agenda? It's not like he holds an extreme view. Democracies are supposed to be about majority rule. He holds a majority viewpoint, yet the company's targeted as if they were some sort of extremist organization for saying they are against gay marriage.

There's pissing people off for fun, then there's trolling...and then there's what was said in this thread by a poster. Really is this 2012???!!?

Not a reflection of the landscape of the country on this issue today. Nor at all. For example, only 19% of people voted on Prop 8 in 2008. Marriage equality was not a mainstream issue in a real way until really the last year.

No. Highlighting and condemning bad behavior for what it is, is just that.

Facts have a liberal bias.

Being against the equality of legal citizens on the basis of who they are is very much extreme. It's wrong.

The USA is not a pure democracy. Majority does not have the right to infringe on minorities.

Well, maybe that's a sign of where popular culture is headed. Seems like a good thing to me

You said that a vast majority of the American population opposes same-sex marriage. I said that it doesn't. All polls taken in 2012 confirm my opinion.

Now you are switching the discussion to whether or not it is legal. Most states have a constitutional ban on same sex marrige. This does not mean the vast majority of the population of that state opposes gay marriage. It means that State laws have not kept up with public opinion.

I disagree. CFA is still a very contentious issue. Especially considering Dan Cathy, the CEO, keeps opening his mouth and sticking his foot in it.

Only sales figures matter and I would be surprised if they have dropped significantly.
I would boycott the place except I never ate there before or thought of eating there. Also, I don't know anyone who has eaten there. It's one of those mysterious places to me -- sort of like Applebees -- they stay open and people seem to eat there, but I never know of anyone who eats there. For instance, Denny's. It's not where I would choose to eat, but I have eaten there several times and I know people who have eaten there. So, it's not like I totally avoid crap eating places, yet Chick-a-fil remains a mystery. I kin of doubt that the food is terrific because I never have heard anyone talking about it ever

Ops! I can never get the name of this place right. Chick-Fil-A. Name makes no sense.

Sorry, I don't think this is true since most of the laws against same sex marriage are recently passed laws or amendments to state constitutions. It's rather that special interests frighten state legislators and/or that state legislators tend to be conservative. Also a nationwide poll can be pretty meaningless when it comes to a specific state.
