Of course there was going to be a trial. You don't think Vilas would learn the truth and say "Oh well, you can't have them all". ATP still refuse to accept the study, so a NY showdown was bound to happen sooner or later.
Beautiful name

Australia does seem like a great place to live, and certainly a step up in the tennis scene. I expect to see your girls on the WTA circuit in no time Sounds like quite the process to move there. Congrats on passing the exam, but you're an insanely smart guy so it's hardly unexpected

I just really didn't consider a trial, I guess. Makes sense, though. Will you be at the trial itself? Or will Puppo just fill you in?

Re: THE Thread

Well, I didn't update there, I have to take it again to obtain a higher score. There are many in the queue and it's a long wait, unless I get at least 7 band score in each of the 4 directions, in which case I'd get 10 points bonus for the visa and have priority at the next invitation round (a round is held about every 2 weeks).

I won't be at the trial, no. I really can't afford going to NY right now (I'd really wish to make a double USO-Vilas trial visit), plus, obtaining a US travel visa is a longer process and the trial and USO is already under one month from now.

I'm sure you'll be able to hit your target. Studying hard again, I assume? What fields does this test cover?

That's a shame :/ I'm sure it will be fascinating to follow, especially because you played a big role in giving credence to his #1 campaign. The trial should be a routine win for Vilas, assuming the court isn't as stupid as the ATP

There's Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Trouble I had last time was Speaking of course. Not being able to practice it much around here makes it so much harder. I have to record myself in order to eliminate errors and try to raise my fluency.

A costly assumption. The ATP will come with their opinion that since the rankings were not weekly, they shouldn't be forced to recognize a player as number 1 outside the publication pattern. Vilas will respond with number 1 was won on court, and the ATP could publish the rankings more frequently, they just chose not to because they thought nothing had happened. Elaborate that into fancy speeches and a few hours of exchange and I know what they'll say. What I don't know is what the panel will decide.

We were just talking about THE TRIAL, general. THE Thread is THE best place for that. Come join us, any predictions if Vilas wins it?
