Romney almost won me over but still don't like his excessive military spending. Surely cutting the deficit means cutting back on military as well as everything else.
But every single time we have drastically cut military spending it has been disastrous. And far more expensive in the long run. A huge, huge part of the financial troubles in the 21st century came from just thoughtlessly gutting the military in the 90's without any care for anything past the next election cycle.
The problem more than anything is all the waste and these criminally overblown prices from the defense companies. It sure isn't going to the common soldiers. And given the size of the budget, there's no excuse for that.
It's the endless money that's thrown at education that is the bigger problem. I just wish that any of these people would explain why spending so much astronomically more than the government use to per capita on education has resulted in poorer and poorer schools. Political correctness and huge concentration on politically correct education has a lot to do with it, but it shouldn't lower it that much across the board.
Education is far more wasteful and useless for the past 2 generations than military spending.
And it's not just that too. The US has far too many "allies" who do absolutely nothing in exchange for their security in defense treaties with the US.
