I guess people at MTF are more interested about tennis as game than people at TF, if you want to see tennis at top level, you watch ATP. True tennis fan of course watches WTA too, yet still has main focus in ATP. On the other hand, there are also people who are interested about tennis, yet not about the game, there are men who's only interest in WTA is players' looks, women whose interest in WTA is what players wear and what they do off-court. And there are women whose only interest in ATP is players' looks and what they do off-court. In general, ATP has larger proportion of fans of the game, WTA has larger proportion of people caring only about entertainment. And that can be seen when you compare nen-tennis sections of MTF and TF, TF has more threads about e.g. music and TV shows. And I'd say those people who are interested in entertainment are more social, that's why TF has more activity. And I'd say the ones who are interested in entertainment are more often women than the ones who are interested in tennis, and they are probably younger. That's why the atmosphere at MTF and TF is different. And I have to say, I like maybe a bit harsh humor at MTF, I don't find TF as interesting.
MTF is basically like the ATP tour itself. Rougher surface but deep within most here just love the sport. You can call players stuff without any ill-will behind it. Even the players themselves pull gay jokes and call each other way dirtier stuff than is posted here just to practice together the day after. Men are like that. Often a bit more brutal on the surface but there is less meaning behind.
TF is probably a bit like the WTA tour. Very pretty surface. But deep within? Even many of the WTA players themselves are like mortal enemies and refuse to be on the same practice court or even talk to each other even if they still smile and look happy for the cameras. I wouldn't be the least surprised if TF is a way more personal, sinister and bitchier place than MTF will ever become.
On another, non-tennis forum somebody just said that, men may hug each other at the net after match, women often have just a cold handshake.
