It's sort of the same in Wales and the surname Jones.

At any given time the Welsh national rugby team is bound to have several Joneses who are not related to each other.

Why was baseball eliminated again? Stupid decision. Not just an American sport. Japan was really good, vey popular in sections of Latin America.

At least they can keep samples for 8 years. As the cheats are always ahead.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

8 years is nothing. anti-doping agencies ought to save the samples for at least 50 years. alleged dopers shouldn't be allowed one night of solid sleep until their mid-70s. constant state of terror, that's what they deserve.

so whatever armstrong has offered the agencies has been destroyed by now and he's off the hook? ridiculous.

I find baseball to be one of most boring sports in existence, and MLB is the only one out of the 5 major North American sports leagues that I have no interest in whatsoever. However I completely agree that the sport should still be at the Olympics.

I believe that the international baseball and softball federations will merge to boost their bid to regain Olympic status. The IOC probably didn’t like the situation before where there was baseball with just a men’s tournament and softball with just a women’s, as they prefer sports that have events for both genders.

I also agree that baseball is a more international sport than many people realise. Handball for instance is a heavily European dominated sport for both men and women, with the Korean teams, especially their women’s team, being the only major exception there. However there is no way that Handball should be removed from the Olympic programme for not being global enough, so baseball shouldn’t have been either. Sure it is not a huge sport in Europe, but it is very popular across North and Latin American and in Japan and Korea. Plus even in Europe the Netherlands have had a pretty good baseball team over the years.

In México, baseball is actually more popular than football in some North Western states such as Baja California and Sinaloa.

i don't think north america will generate enough buzz to push baseball. once you're gone, you're gone for good. i'm fairly sure asia is gonna be a major player though. if china and its sports "allies" decide to push squash they might have an instant case.

There's not enough out of competition testing.

BTW baseball is awful. Worst of the US sports for sure. Rather see cricket.

Where there is financial rewards, then there are going to people taking short cuts. Out of competition is bad but not as bad as tennis.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

In Olympic year out of competition testing needs to be more rigorous to stop athletes from 'timing' when they use the drugs to avoid coinciding with arranged tests.

I think looking back, patriotic sentiment aside. Rudisha 800m race was the most awesome track race, astonishingly quick without a pace setter.

Hard to like cricket if you have never lived in a former British colony.

Cricket's bigger than baseball anyway in terms of population watching (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UK, South Africa, Australia, NZ, Caribbean, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands not discounting other fans in countries who might like it anyway)
