My personal favourite was when Prince Albert at the Sydney Games trying to hit on this 20 something blonde chick and bombing out badly.

Great crowds for the marathon one of the few free events have to take advantage.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

By the looks of it, this isn't really a marathon. It's more like a 42k steeple chase. Without the hurdles, obviously.

The marathon is a great advertisement for London, by the way. Not that they need any advertisement, but still.
Is it the same course as the yearly London marathon?
The Olympic Marathon traditionally ends in the Olympic stadium but the annual London Marathon ends on The Mall. However the section along the Victoria Embankment and as far as the Mall duplicates the finishing stretch of the London Marathon.[26]

Though the revised Olympic route finishes in The Mall, it still differs from the London Marathon course which starts in Greenwich. The logistical problems behind the design of the London Marathon course (35,000 runners of mixed ability) are very different from those behind the design of the London Olympic Marathon course (100 top-class runners) and therefore it is highly unlikely that the London Marathon would follow the Olympic route,[27] as happened in Atlanta from 1997 to 2009. Then, the Atlanta Marathon followed most of the Olympic route except for the start and finish which were in the car park of the stadium, which had since been converted to baseball use.

Yes, I know that most of it would be on the streets anyway, but I assume a place on the mall was on a first come basis.

The incredibly large crowds on the wet streets support my conclusion. Next sunday morning should be thrilling.
That's a fair point.
The Mall is obviously a great place to finish a marathon.

One of my favourite moments of any olympics is when the winner of the mens marathon receives their medal at the closing ceremony. To receive not just a standing ovation from 80.000 fans, but also from thousands of other athletes from all over the world must be an unforgettable experience.

17 (yes, yes, yes!) Slams! And counting....

Gelana too good another gold to Ethiopia.
