Yeah fair play. It just seems so sad that GB dominate track and road cycling completely, and the fastest man in the world doesn't have a medal

I think a world title, victory in Milan - San Remo, points jerseys in Tour and Vuelta, 23 stage wins in the Tour, 10 in the Giro and 3 in the Vuelta kind of make up for a missed olympic medal.

No reason for you to feel sad after a day like today.

17 (yes, yes, yes!) Slams! And counting....

Yeah you're right. I just love Cav and he is the only one missing out on the accolades, but like you said great night for GB and British cycling this year in fact.

I love Cycling.

Re: Olympic Games 2012 London Thread (All other sports besides tennis)

Bonkers day of Olympic sport that, all watched with plenty of ale and a party atmosphere. About 13 of us with a house bash flicking over back and forth to catch the big goings-on.

Jess winning was the highlight EASILY. That girl is golden and a national treasure here. Her victory even surpasses the 2004 relay team (who are still fondly remembered here)

Regarding GB football, I've said this about Sturridge for ages but he has the talent of a superstar but the brain of Dmitry Tursunov. I'm not surprised he lacked the intelligence in a situation like that.

But yeah, crazy Olympic night. If Muzza wins singles gold tomorrow then GB can win nothing else and it'll be the pinnacle.

Simple not good enough on the day, you don't get gold medals because of reputation.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

We could add the medals of GB, France, Germany, Italy and Holland together and we'll totally kick Chinese and American ass! We don't even need Spains 2 silver and 1 bronze medal!
Brilliant.

Defending champion Dita is apparently 42 yrs and 195 days old and the marathon is 42.195 km.

Mind blown.

These olympics are a bit meh... Spain are delivering a monumental flop and I can't even rejoice in Germany's successes because they're on full melancholic self-pity mode again and keep going on about how they're not as good as they were etc.

Ah well, at least the Brits lost on pens.

and did it in better style than usual - not only lost on pens but missed a pen to lead 2-1 in normal time

the Arsenal hyped reserve player, Ramsey, awful shit penalty.
