Most successful national songs in your country

What are the most successful songs in your country that didn't become popular international?

Germany

Most successful German song ever: >>Verdammt ich lieb dich<< - Matthias Reim (1990)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZdPe4gG3Ak

Other evergreens in German:

>>Ohne Dich<< - Münchener Freiheit

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWGGc14lZzY

>>Flugzeuge im Bauch<< - Herbert Grönemeyer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6nJF1o1mBM

>>Irgendwie Irgendwo Irgendwann<< - Nena*

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oikaxFYGb3Q

>>Und wenn ein Lied<< - Söhne Mannheims

*Nena had some international success reaching # 1 in the UK, # 2 in US Charts etc.

What about Jein from Fettes Brot? Still an extremely popular song played left and right despite beginning with the line "It's 1996...".

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Irgendwie Irgendwo Irgendwann can be heard on the radio here in the Czech Republic even now

There are many many many more songs I didn't mention

Don't forget about all the Schlager-songs

Many of the American superstar songs become international. Hard to say

Paradorn Srichaphan
Kei Nishikori, Donald Young, Somdev Devvarman, Dustin Brown, Steve Johnson, Yannick Maden
Robert Farah, Clement Reix, Alexander Dolgopolov, Nathan Thompson

Re: Most successful national songs in your country

None of our songs will ever become international because nobody can understand them, but some of them should:

Aleš Brichta - Dívka s perlami ve vlasech

Lucie Bílá - Vokurky

Lucie - Amerika

Wanastowi Vjecy - Kouzlo

BSP - Země vzdálená

I grew up on these

Re: Most successful national songs in your country

From Australia it has to be anything by The Wiggles. The Big Red Car would be a good song to start with. Wake up Jeff was another monumental chart topping hit.

Baker (USA) - Bedene (SLO) - Bellucci (BRA) - Berta (SWE) - Cuevas (URU) - Domijan (USA) - Ebden (AUS) - Estrella (DOM) - Grigelis (LTU) - Guccione (AUS) - Heliovaara (FIN) - Kavcic (SLO) - King (BAH) - Kontinen (FIN) - Kubler (AUS) - Lajovic (SRB) - Matosevic (AUS) - McGee (IRE) - Millman (AUS) - Mitchell (AUS) - Nielsen (DEN) - Nieminen (FIN) - Paire (FRA) - Udomchoke (THA)

I know that Garth Brooks is one of the most successful singers in the US ever. But I guess nobody knows him abroad

Hate to play the grumpy role... but the amount of noisy crap in this thread is off the charts.
