Plus, the fat is rendered down when it's crispy. All it would do to a salad is add a smoky flavour. Even if there is fat on rendered-down crispy bacon, I assure you, it's not much.
to each their own but I would much prefer turkey or salmon in a salad than bacon

And after all that, the chefs say "it's a simple dish to prepare" .

But to be fair, even though I find some concepts disgusting, I still enjoy watching these programmes. Looking forward to Luke Nguyen cooking show this evening, even though he very rarely cooks anything I would actually eat (most recent one being simple fish cooked in bamboo leaves with salt, pepper, chilli and sprinkled with lemon juice), followed by a couple of others (Two Greedy Italians, I think)

That's what I'm talkin' about. Simple, fresh, quick. Great balance of flavour. Two elements of a great dish for me:
1) Simple to prepare (to an extent I suppose)
2) Harmonious flavours

So with some "concepts", I find it's not necessary disgusting (ie. if your referring to taste), but I look at it in the context of how complicated it is. I find Asian cooking is at times very convenient and simple like the above mentioned.

I declare something 'disgusting' if either the mix of ingredients I feel, is way out of whack (I mean WAY out of whack, eg. Onion ice cream from George Calombaris like 4-5 years ago ) or if I've tried something and it tastes like shit. "Dunno if you haven't tried it" is my saying, when it comes to food in most cases.

Re: Food thread

Just to be a fat fuck yesterday (and to piss off Nat ), I went and got Hungry Jacks last night for dinner. One whopper, one tendercrisp, fries, sundae (with none of that gross, fake flavour syrup) and a coke. Decent shit to eat for now, because I'm running ridiculously short on time with everything at Uni at the moment.

Re: Food thread

Last week me and my GF had a little time in our hands so we made homemade ravioli . Filled them with a cheese/basil/pesto paste and then simply heated up some chopped tomatoes and garlic for the dressing. It was goooood

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

If I have to eat fast food, I prefer KFC because the burgers got so shit over the years at maccas/HJ. I bet the patty isn't even real meat at this point since they add so much shit to their mince in order to save money. In fact the patty by itself is virtually inedible. With KFC they can't tamper with chicken in this way because you get actual pieces with bones etc. It's still shit food, but better than HJ's ratburgers. I also like the chips more and you can get better sides like potato and gravy and coleslaw

That's true but in the limited time I had, first thing I thought up was HJ because it was close-by. Hadn't had in ages so I was like ah fuck it lets go.

Decent sized whopper but the patty is fucked beyond repair (I still ate it obviously). It's most likely like over-expired mince filled with millions of preservatives in it. It really doesn't taste like meat at all, but luckily the mayo and the tomato sauce covered that up (most likely the purpose of those sauces). Plus, they can't even serve you neat anymore. That whopper was falling apart; the patty off-centre, the tomatoes, lettuces and sauces were completely out of the burger. Awful. Just awful.
The tendercrisp, you'd think the chicken breast would be real, but unfortunately not. The meat to batter/flour ratio is was like 1:200. And the chicken meat is most likely old chicken mince filled with preservatives as well, and they put random spices like white pepper and shit to get rid of any awful taste of the chicken. Tasty, only because it's crispy and fried.
I like any type of fries in general, but HJ's fries are becoming like maccas ones (ie. no potato, all crisp). I had too much salt on my fries last night.
The coke is just water + coke syrup + probably some bicarb or some shit to make it taste fizzy = fake coke. But it's like that every franchise these days.

There's a reason why I don't have this shit too often. I don't go to KFC often either, but I usually get like wicked wings if I do. I don't quite trust their burgers either, but at least overall their chicken is more real. Potato and gravy is alright, but it looks like baby diarrhea. Coleslaw's okay but you keep eating it and it eventually tastes/smells like white out.

Re: Food thread

good one generalito. looks awesome.

i am starting to think more about salads as snacks. i have come across another one that i like:

you take this salad and then sprinkle fresh red grapes, apple slices, mandarin orange, and fresh strawberries on it.

i think it will end up being a one hell of a salad snack.

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.
