What type of tennis player are you?

For me, I have an Andy Roddick style of play. My volleys sucks, my groundstokes are half ass but my serve is my only saving grace. One other thing too, I have the mental strenght of Andy Murray, when i start losing, i really start falling apart and plus, i choke when i have a lead over a really good player or even a really crappy player lol.

Re: What type of tennis player are you?

I try to play offensively but more often than not I end up being more of a grinder sadly. Speed, first serve and forehand are decent, my lobs and drop shots are okay too. Second serve and volleys are pretty bad though. My technique on the whole could do with some fine tuning actually. I've played for fun for a couple of years and I always win against my friends but I've never been properly schooled... Twice I've played against a guy who is currently playing competitive tennis and both times I lost - but the second time I actually pushed him.

A happy amateur is what I am.

Re: What type of tennis player are you?

Federer, oddly enough, save for my serve, which is way too inconsistent at the moment. And my net game is too weak at the moment.

My forehand is my weapon, and I have a strong one hand backhand. Shanks come here and there, but generally, my one hander is a solid shot.

Just gotta work on the serve and net game. I'm also thinkin of trying to hit returns with 2 hands, as I used to play a 2 handed backhand. As it stands, my backhand return is shit w/ one hand, and my slice needs work.

Actually, my game is nothing like Fed's in terms of execution But I play with an aggressive mindset.

So really your game is nothing like Federer's mate.

Re: What type of tennis player are you?

Serve: Andy Roddick
Forehand: Mardy Fish
Backhand: Feliciano Lopez
Mental: Andy Murray
Return of Serve: Ivo Karlovic
Volleys: Andy Roddick
Movement: Andy Roddick
Stamina: Donald Young
Style: Serve Bot/Ball Basher
Comparison: Andy Roddick

My style of play resembles Andy Roddick a lot but with a less competent forehand. I typically aim to win my matches by serving big for cheap points and if I don't serve big accurately, i go hitting for winners as soon as possible to end the rally on a winning point. I do this because to offset my weaknesses and maximize my strenghts. If I end up in long rallies all the time, i will end up getting tired; my stamina is not that great and also longer rallies will also expose my somewhat weak baseline game.

I don't know who to compare my style to. I feel like a more artistic ballbasher.

Re: What type of tennis player are you?

Taking this thread more seriously now:

Serve - noob serve. No difference between 1st and 2nd.
Returns - I get them in most of the time.
Forehand - more consistent wing in terms of getting the ball over and in, but unable to generate much power and am often late for the shot. Also, I don't believe I've ever hit an inside-out forehand in my life that wasn't a fluke.
Backhand - less consistent than forehand because I hit it very flat (I can't hit a topspin backhand without making extra effort to do so) but it's my go-to side when I want to win a point. Backhand cross-court is my favourite shot. Sometimes I run around my forehand and I've recently added the inside-in backhand (at least that's what I think it's called) to my ~arsenal of shots~.
Volley - forehand volley is serviceable; backhand volley needs work. Can't decide whether to use 1 or 2 hands. 2-handed feels weird and counter-intuitive. 1-handed is extremely weak - can't hold the racquet firmly and often frame the volley.
Overheads - absolutely non-existent
Passing shots - I may attempt a pass if you approach to my backhand. If you approach to my forehand I end up doing something that I hope is a successful lob because my forehand is just a joke like that.
Footwork - crap. I don't do drills 'cause I'm lazy.
Mental strength - atrocious. My serve disappears when I play matches. Then again, my groundstrokes run away in fear during matchplay. My best showing so far was a 6-1 set against a generous friend who played down to my level even though he's wayyyy better than me. (Though I did win 6-4 playing doubles with 3 other guys.)
Fitness - shit, but better than, say, 3 years ago when I first started playing.

I like to play aggressively. I get tired/bored when a rally goes beyond 8 to 10 shots. I'd probably compare myself to Wozniacki in terms of how her forehand sucks and her backhand is her better shot, but obviously my "game" doesn't resemble any respectable pro's.
