Interviews Thread

Shots at the title:

Sonja1989

While the popcon in the crucial phases gets to "I love you B, but I have known A for longer" and keeps promoting the same old names, Hungarian newcomer Sonja1989 is one of the favourites for the crown. Why? She's known everywhere: has the chat bases in Casa and the Castle (though these days pretty much the same people post in them) and she's known in the General Messages (this is why she's an improved Betty who lost last year because of GM posters not being aware of her). The special use of English makes her remarkable, plus she is a genuinely nice person sending good reps and able to get along with everyone. The one who is honest, wouldn't plot, wouldn't cry on MSN about you being a bully to the "security guards"... at least this is an impression she leaves. Like in the miss world contest running for some charity cause, for Diana (her real name) it's to get a Marcel Granollers forum.

strenghts: being recognizable, chat fanbase, no enemies, Corey Feldman as a bodyguard
weaknesses: still not known enough and old friendships could win in the deciding matches

Corey Feldman

A defending champion is aware of what he needs to do to get it. Mental and physical assaults towards voters, pushing into guilt even two years after event is over (just ask Minn whom she voted in Mikey's match against Betty in 2009, she will remember it till death) or the sweetness expressed in goodreps and voting his mates back. A charismatic leader of re-born Casa Feldman chat thread and a significant personality in the Rafachat, plus a fighting persona in GM. Active for the whole year bar the bans. He's got everything to defend the title.

strenghts: he's got plenty of friends and is not hesitatant to manipulate them, he also knows how to win new posters over
weakness: random people might not want to vote for someone who won in 2010 during a difficult match-up

Nathaliia

A poster who can be gone for a whole year and yet make effortlessly the top stage in each edition, incl. a final (2010). This season was a similar case as she spent it in the challenger forum. Even with her mafia being not much interested in the contest, she's always one to look out for. Should get neutral poster recognition for her tennis website and, for example, interviews from Moscow.

strenghts: tennis journalist more appreciated on mtf than bodo or reed; this year not in her casual badass behaviour mode; doesn't organize the contest in 2011, so mtf nostalgiatards can vote her
weaknesses: three years and three stupid losses (though each of them different) - probably no winner mentality; her casual mafia thread filled with the likes of acionescu or tennizen

Betty

Popcon winner in 2009. Still one of the most popular members. This year can count on support from The Casa and Rafachat - like every year - but this season Casa is stronger than before. Plus, she is also a TT player and already known to NT once-a-year-off-season visitors. She's nice, reps people, and Corey Feldman is her soldier.

strenghts: widely recognized, doesn't have enemies, betty english is a classic
weaknesses: still not contributing enough in GM

finishingmove

He used to be known for being a GM troll, for one liners and for posting electronic music videos. Mr. MTF turned his life upside down. Once he posted his boyish pictures, he conquered women (something Bilbo must achieve by approaching 1500 women on the streets of Berlin per year and risking slaps on the face), his voice became more heard (he wrote a few longer posts) and became an actual owner of the Attention Seekers chat thread. Gays in Serbia hang his pics next to Nole in thong and beautiful gypsy girls ask on the streets for his phone (that's a true story).

strenghts: recognition all over mtf, dry sense of humour, Noletards, AS and some Rafachat should vote him
weaknesses: could become a person having 2 MTF slams at one time, that's almost as good as Nole - people might not allow it; he's not too desperate about this contest and this is a serious obstacle in popcons

dark horses

Getta

Once she agreed to participate she instantly became one of the favourites. The cryptic Greek has a lot of fanbase, some of the fans are vocal (ie. Thanos).

strenghts: votes from AS, Rafachat (could be selected ahead of more comprehensible posters from mentioned groups by those threads inhabitants because Getta is mystery), occassional visits in NT and GM also seemed to have left impact
weaknesses: not desperate enough, though the stoic non-campaigning could also work in her favour when everyone else gets too heated

Nikki

Present on MTF since the big boom always has been underachieving in the popcon comparing to abilities (looks and friendships she has). Probably she was more low-profile and sticking mainly to NT. Now she finally has two fanbases to vote for her plus "every year random voters" are already aware of her, so with a good draw she can make it far.

strenghts: fanbase in Casa and AS oldtimers, she can campaign without shame
weakness: she was the one who made the stunt of voting in last year's final from three accounts altogether, and received a 3 month ban for it (though for anyone with a good humour that's a pro)

tennizen

Just like Nikki, she's been flying under the radar. With making AS her second home she widened her potential elector circle. Also more and more posters notice (once l_mac is gone and minions try to get out of the shadow) she is a highly intelligent woman. Soon India will rule the world with Clay Death grabbing ACC and tennizen winning a popcon.

strenghts: recognizable in GM, having fanbases in Rafachat and AS
weaknesses: depends on her match-ups, there might be no weaknesses in certain sets and she can even be a finalist

Henry Chinaski

Another very recognizable tennis journalist who posts on MTF and probably has surpassed Voo de Mar in regular/valuable GM contributing. Shank Tennis is legendary, the guy posts in the Football Thread, is very straightforward with his vocabulary use and has made friends over years.

strenghts: Shank Tennis, common sense, fanbase in AS and GM
weakness: he says he's not arsed about this contest, but as far as I know him, if he gets a good draw and makes it far, he'll be here campaigning. just like tennizen, depends on match-ups, could crash out in R4 but as well can make the final

Snowwy

Been a while since a mod was considered one of the favourites, but Snowwy is leading the "favourite mod" poll in quizzes and polls. He's known around the board and generally appreciated for how he handles problematic issues (might not use his sense of humour every time, but he's informative and not rude or sarcastic toward people who speak to him).

strenghts: defending his mod position well, plenty of canucks showing up to vote
weakness: in the past a member of AS and adee-gee thread; these days will lack it when it matters

dangerous floaters

Harmless

Always been having very vocal fans and reportedly habibko took out Dini's picture from above his bed and replaced with Harmless as a fapping object. Now with the recognition through a contest organization she'll get bonus votes and maybe also will draw a better match-up than the person she prematurely lost to twice in a row.

strenghts: vocal fans of her, "awww thank you for organizing this wonderful contest" votes
weaknesses: still not known enough on MTF

v-money

A worthy replace for posters like shotgun or El Burro. Sound Ukrainian, not paranoid gambler, smart and spot on.

strenghts: GM recognition, common sense
weaknesses: doesn't belong to a clique

Orka_n

Might finish the season as the highest Swede, ahead of Soderling. GM poster making visits to NT and this is good for starters to get high in a draw or pull an upset. Very insightful interview in another thread.

strenghts: male mimi regarding good reps, cute avatar, respectful in discussion, known in GM and NT
weakness: doesn't belong to a clique

cobalt_60

As always, Dr. Sue is up to be a dangerous floater. Respected by everyone, seen by everyone as a potential good mod she finally was elected as one. Bringing sexy back and a word of wisdom into a madhouse.

strenghts: smart, witty, likeable, recognizable, votes from fanbases and neutrals
weaknesses: won't be desperate when things heat up

samanosuke

Welcome another new name in the casual list of "these people will go far". With oranges gone and Harmless hiding behind the Cuban flag and Luxembourgish fangirling, he needs to keep Croatian wit alive in GM. Appreciated by more and more posters, finding himself a chat thread, he can note a good score.

strenghts: GM recognition, chat threads recognition
weaknesses: Nadal fans might have a problem with his Dodig worship

fast_clay

The Australian exiled on European soil has made himself known for no capital letters, original approach (not the way Bilbo approaches women, I mean) at punctuation and of course the post content. Monty Python of MTF must have collected his career high number of nominations so he should count in the draw.

strenghts:
AS fanbase, GM votes
weakness: half of male MTF would want to possess his gf if they saw the picture

Sophocles

It's a problem Sean Lennon and Damian Marley have already experienced: how to make your name known for yourself and not your ancestor. The Philosophical Phedtard is surely more known on MTF than the dead Greek under the same name. Last year's popcon enthusiastic campaign also got him in some voting allies.

strenghts: fedtard votes, sound GM members votes
weaknesses: after all he's only a seasonal clique member which can be cruel in some match-ups

Re: PopCon 2011 Draw & Discussion [Seeds Announced]

Live draw of seed placements in about a half an hour or so.
In the meantime, Nathii's traditional writeup .

Re: PopCon 2011 Draw & Discussion [Seeds Placed + Nathii's Write-up]

So typical of me never to make it into the top 10.
How about the PRIZE for winning this include being in the Ms or Mr MTF contest as well. Just a little bit of extra push to either manipulate behind the scenes or the opposite to have no manipulation.

The great thing about democracy is that it gives every voter a chance to do something stupid.
