Re: Is winning the ACC a prestige thing?

it's not prestigeous... its where we all heap sh!t on emotionally challenged f**kheads who didn't figure out till they were 17 that it's not right to get intimate with the neighbours pet dog... that's what sort of imbecile we're dealing with here... the best of the best... major contenders do have one redeeming feature tho... they contended... they didn't flake out... they weren't yellow... when it came to the crunch and they were nominated, they took it square on the nose and said 'yeah i'm a f*ckwit what you gonna do about it.'...

After a while you realise its just clowning and gloryhunting - you get used to it. I've tried to make a few threads that actually talk about tennis but eventually I gave up. Threads that talk about tennis die fairly quickly while ones about "class" and off court rubbish go on for days on end.

You take MTF for it's strengths - comic relief in tennis flavour. ACC is the culmination of this so enjoy it for whats its worth. If you can't then ignore it. Simple really.
Same here.

The sooner you understand and accept what MTF really stands for the better. Though, you're welcome to start a revolution and begin the turning of the cogs of fate within the forum, bringing forth the deliriously slow alteration of the common forumer from hoodlum jester to articulate Tennis enthusiast. History is filled with great people standing up for what they believe in.. but without the naysayers bringing with them differing opinions, these people will not have had anything to change.

Looks like you want to make this change your own.. the rest of us will be your notorious naysayers and help you out. It'll take years of hard work and numerous new utter twats gaining the title of ACC champions, but you'll get there, you sound committed enough.

Just remember, if you want supporters of the ACC to respect and understand your opinion even if unwilling to support it, you're going to have to respect their view point and do them the same honour. It's a two way street.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

If you want to do better in the ACC, Dodger, you need to draw attention to yourself in some way or other, and the votes will come. Try defending a controversial or minority position in NT. Everyone who disagrees with you will call you an ass clown and toss you a vote (according to just how unpopular the position that you are defending is).

Achieving ass clown status in GM is a bit more difficult, and requires more persistence to stand out from the herd. A couple ideas:

1. Bitch unrelentingly (a la Abraxas)
2. Take fanboyism to a truly irrational extreme, such that you significantly overvalue your player and undervalue his opponents, all the while making yourself as vocal as possible about it (a la many posters such as Sapeod, Feldman, MonfilsFanatic, Muzzahlovah, Grassquet, and so many Nadaltards, most of whom have "Nadal" in their username).

Of course, there is a shortcut to ACC success, and that is strong campaigning in the ACC threads themselves. If you can make a big enough stink in those threads, you're sure to climb the rankings.
OP, you can study Seingeist for an example of a 3rd round ACC guy.

I think the original idea was to vote for funny posters, but it quickly became just a vote for people you disagree with. So it is a waste of time, because that is what the dumb posters do the other 364 days of the year anyway.

Then you have the really dumb posters, like abraxas, who wants to be just like a previous winner and so has no problem announcing that the win by glennmirnyi was just a voting anomaly, a mass error committed by the majority. And he might actually believe that, such is his fragile hold on reality.
OP, study buddyholly for an example of a 4th round ACC guy.

The only way I see generic user number 1 losing is due to a choke. What's that you ask? How does one choke in a clown voting contest? Choking is a vital part of anything competitive you'll do in life so this must be explained. Yes, there is an MTF guide somewhere, but this is specific to the ACC.

For all you aspiring clutch clowns out there here are the simple rules you must steadfastly adhere to during ACC time, not fully committing will result in an immense choke:

1) DO NOT compliment another fanbase.

2) DO NOT give the impression you understand ANYTHING - especially with regards to Tennis.

3) Be sure to use the word "disgusting" to describe anything a rival player says or does.. especially vital in match result threads.

4) There is no limit to who or what can be considered a mug.

5) This era is weak - this cannot be stressed enough.. be sure to mention that or something similar at least once every two sentences.

6) Argue aimlessly. No opinion matters, least of all your own. Forget what you actually believe in, you're a clown not a Christian.

7) If you're losing an arguement or are running out of things to say, these are your weapons of mass distraction: .. Use these whenever they're most inappropriate and insure you're throwing in posts with these smilies alone, between sentences, between words and on occasion between letters to cover all bases.

8) Keep identifying other skilled clowns. Individually claim that each and every one of them is a favourite for the ACC to increase the attention brought upon yourself.

High level clowns who are unable to sufficiently soil their name during this period shall forever be slated and deemed an eternal choker, achieving the nickname El Mago.

You've described Sapeod's campaign in a nutshell.

ACC doesn't increase the amount of trolling. The reasons people are nominated is because they've been trolling for the past 12 months anyway.

How do you get nominated? As Clay Death would said, let the blind hate flow freely.

The competition is just for fun. I like it because it's funny. Fedmate was hilarious and I hope he comes back. I voted for him next year and I will vote this year.
Don't take it serious.
I predict NadalMyHero to win this year.
