But when you see posts like these in the ACC thread:

And these are just some of the few examples I've picked out. We see here that not even all of these posters are 'tards per se and yet look at what this contest is doing to them; allowing them to make personal insults and get angry at people. This is not 'fun' imo but a bitchfest.
Would you believe me if I said that it's been way worse in the past couple of years? These are pretty light-hearted imho, no comparison to the sh*te that was dealt out in earlier editions of the ACC. The mods being a little more trigger-happy at genuine insults and nastiness might well have something to do with that.

calling the ACC 'pathetic' is blasphemy. the ACC is the heart of MTF.

Well I think the moderation of all insulting posts should be done and a warning given to those individuals. I'm all for making light-hearted jokes of players and even members, but some of the stuff said is simple leaves me shocked.

It's a disgrace.

What should be done to counter this contest at least, is that a Best poster contest be made. Will take the limelight from the 'tards a bit.

And there is just such a contest the Pop Con. Coming to you soon in December. And, of course, the ever popular Mr. and Miss MTF contest. It is also in Dec.
These contests just roll on forever.

It's a disgrace.
The problem is, one identical post will be taken as a severe insult by some posters, and as light-hearted banter by others.
As long as the posts aren't actually nasty outings of personal feuds going on (which I think they aren't), I think it's okay.

Let me tell you this... the exact same names would most possibly appear over there. Tards would nominate tards, haters would nominate their fellow haters, etc. - just like in the ACC nomination thread.

Well that's very nice news to hear.

Still the aura of the ACC should be downgraded. Atm it's the holy grail of the MTF, according to some, and no doubt some people solely troll and post for the intention of winning this award.

Re: Is winning the ACC a prestige thing?

no it isn't.

judging by the people who have won the contest before, they were pretty much all clowns of the highest order.

i think only glennmirnyi is the only former winner who wasn't really a clown

Only an assclown would enjoy winning this title.

Re: Is winning the ACC a prestige thing?

Very prestigious. The posters who get most excited about this waste of computer space are generally the dumbest and so they vote for posters of high intelligence and then convince themselves that the results mean they, themselves, are not so dumb after all.

I think the original idea was to vote for funny posters, but it quickly became just a vote for people you disagree with. So it is a waste of time, because that is what the dumb posters do the other 364 days of the year anyway.

Then you have the really dumb posters, like abraxas, who wants to be just like a previous winner and so has no problem announcing that the win by glennmirnyi was just a voting anomaly, a mass error committed by the majority. And he might actually believe that, such is his fragile hold on reality.

Is winning the ACC prestigious? Well, yes and no. You will become part of MTF legend but you'll notice that past champions have disappeared, either they self-exiled in protest or were permabanned for their superior arseclownery.

How should I better my chances to be noticed and get nominated?
IMHO, the fastest way to the top of the ACC nominations list is to call ActionJackson a house negro. You might eat a ban in the process but it'll give participants a lot to work with in the coming weeks.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Make a stand to the ACC.

Dear MTF,

I am wholeheartedly appealing to MTF and its memebers to get rid of the ACC contest for a number of concerning reasons which are outlined below:

i) Firtly it encourages member to actively seek out trolls who can be nominated for the contest, hence giving trolls/'tards publicity and even more attention than they recieve, they get MTF-wide recognition, which is exactly what they crave. If this contest is shut down or abolished, the trolls/'tards will not be getting the attention which they do not deserve.

ii) Secondly it encourages trolls to be trolling 'big time' on General messages. As you all will be aware of course, General messages is the main board on this forum where we can discuss the latest tennis results, news etc and I believe the quality of the posts is too poor at this moment in time, and I largely attribute this due to the fact that an unprecedented number of trolls are lurking GM, ready to troll and spam. Seingeist himself in another topic says these are the conditions to be nominated for the ACC contest:

Quote:

1. Bitch unrelentingly (a la Abraxas)
2. Take fanboyism to a truly irrational extreme, such that you significantly overvalue your player and undervalue his opponents, all the while making yourself as vocal as possible about it (a la many posters such as Sapeod, Feldman, MonfilsFanatic, Muzzahlovah, Grassquet, and so many Nadaltards, most of whom have "Nadal" in their username).
As you can see he himself says you need to be 'presistent' to stand out of the horde, showing the sheer magnitude of trolls on GM and this contest does nothing but fall right into their objectives; to get attention.

iii) Thirdly getting nominated into the ACC should not be something to be praised, as I have seen a bit on the contest threads, people are happy/joyous of making it into the nomination.

iv) Never have I, in my young existence seen on any forums where trolls/'tards have a contest for themselves. They are usually shunned by the other members and ignored, whereas here I have seen a different mentality. Posters who share the same tennis allegiance with a 'tard will do whatever if take (Even if they are not 'tards themselves) to hype up their 'tard and to get them to annoy people.

v) The 'tards blouting their annoying rhetoric on GM gets repetitive really fast and hence again the quality of posts suffer.

vi) Perhaps the most important point; The 'tards spouting their annoying crap also in turn means good and articulate posts are often overlooked in favour of people replying to 'tards (Usually 'tards themselves of another tennis player) and causes a big argument which turns the whole attention of the posters to the 'flame war' going on between the 'tards and instead of ignoring the 'flame war' and reporting the 'tards to a mod.

I have many other reasons but I'm afraid time is not on my side. Hopefully everyone will read this post and realise the truth that we are falling right into the 'tards' hands by making this joke of a contest.

Thank you for taking your time to read.

Yours sincerely,

GOAT=Fed

EDIT:

Just saw that the mod started this topic. Says it all really. The mods should not adhere to such a contest, but I do not blame them as everyone is involved here (Even the very best of the posters that I know around here), we are all falling for the 'tards' charms. Please do not allow it happen. Make a stand this year.

In all honesty I am all up for banter any time and would not really mind either if the ACC was all just light hearted banter.

But when you see posts like these in the ACC thread:

Compare it to my relatively calm and 'funny' reply when fast_clay nominated me (And I'm clearly not a 'tard or anything as my username may allude):
