The UFO phenomenon

This actually quite fascinating stuff!
Not nearly as ludicrous, unsubstantiated and easily dismissable as one might expect.

Project Tatra: The Slovakia Artifact - The Mystery Artifact in a Slovakian Cave

"I froze in amazement - there stands something like a large, black silo framed in white limestone formations. It is a glass- smooth flank of a seemingly man-made structure. Even the thought of a tower-sized artifact embedded in rock in the middle of an obscure mountain is bewildering." - Antonin T. Horak diary - October 23, 1944

Centre for Physical Trace Research is spearheading Project Tatra to locate a mystery structure/artifact/device found in a cave at the Tatra mountains in Slovakia by Tony Horak during World War II.

Yes it is as ludicrous, easily dismissable and unsubstantiated as one might expect.

Believing in alien beings (on earth) is as stupid as believing in supernatural beings.

I got through the first 10 minutes of the Edgar Mitchell video. He told us to make no mistake that we were being visited by aliens and then rambled on about how the sun was going to burn out and we had to save our species.................
Thrilling stuff indeed!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a basaltic dike. Too bad he was too dumbstruck by his discovery to chip off a sample. But then there would be no mystery............

I'm guessing you didn't watch any of the videos linked above? You could start with the first four. What part of groundbased and airbased radar observing an object (that was seen and described by hundreds or thousands of witnesses) accelerate at 40g each time an intercepting F-16 had missile lock on is ludicrous and easily dismissable?

It's only stupid if you assume that it's physically impossible to travel at supraluminal speeds.

No, he said multiple military personel in Roswell confessed to him that the crashed craft was extra terrestial.

He's not some random clown.

Re: The UFO phenomenon

When a UFO lands in the middle of Tokyo, Paris, New York, or even Perth, then I'll believe it. Till then all the "evidence" is complete rubbish.

I think ''whispered in my ear'' was the term he used. But he did not let us in on any details. But details are alien to UFO buffs - they get in the way of the story.

I also liked the bit where he told us that the local undertaker made the coffins for the aliens. Were they given a Christian burial, I wonder? Which raises the question of whether Jesus died for just our earthly sins - or for the universe's sins. But that is another thread.
All this ultra high secrecy from the Army and then someone calls the local undertaker to order some coffins for the dead aliens.

Re: The UFO phenomenon

The point is, you have lots and lots of seemingly very credible and sensible people in the military or, in Mitchell's case, NASA testifying that the phenomenon is absolutely real, in addition to radar recordings tracking objects going from stationary to thousands of mph in seconds. You'd have to be a close-minded fool to just dismiss those testimonies without pause.

Please cure yourself of this disrespectful nonsense; it is beneath you and it makes you look rather foolish. I could easily compile a list of hundreds of individuals (living and dead) who believe(d) in supernatural beings and who are quite a bit more intelligent than the both of us combined. It is not a matter of "smart" or "stupid" and I think that you know better.

More on-topic, sorry Mjau, but I definitely fall on the skeptical side of things when it comes to UFO's and extra-terrestrials. Of course, I see no reason to rule it out on principle (it is not as though we could demonstrate some logical impossibility of aliens or UFO's), but the topic is such a magnet for sensationalism, kooks, and hoaxes that it is difficult to approach any "evidence" for it with a truly open mind. Even in cases where we skeptics might concede that the proffered "evidence" is out-of-the-ordinary (strange radar readings, for example), we are likely to prefer a more mundane explanation of the facts.

I wonder why you have developed an interest in this subject, Mjau? Do you find yourself inclined to believe that there is "intelligent life" elsewhere in the physical universe? And if so, why?

Corrected, lest you mean that mankind can somehow still be described as "intelligent" despite its past record of incomparable stupidity and blunder.

"Foolish'' is fine here. I tailor my posts to the topic.
