Sorry, but I have to agree with Bilbo here. Yes, FF7 got incredible reviews on release, and yes RPG enthusiasts will cite it as maybe the best game of all time. That's all fine. But Starcraft might have the greatest longevity of any game ever made. It is twelve years old now and it still has an extraordinarily busy online community. Not to mention it might be the most meticulously crafted and well-balanced RTS game ever made. Aside from its graphics it still beats out new RTS games in every possible way.
In the end, it's very simple. What do you like more, RPGs or RTS games? I have never liked turn-based RPGs so the answer is easy. Obviously Bilbo and I are in the minority in this thread, though. But to say that Starcraft doesn't stand up to in FF7 is silly and stupid, as I could easily make the argument the other way around
If you read carefully, you will notice that it was Bilbo who made the assertion about this issue which is clearly based on opinion. I merely stated that his opinion is not shared by all. It's Bilbo's style to make assertions about his opinions as if they were facts. I was stating that it is indeed a matter of opinion.
You obviously don't have an idea which games are most popular at pro tournaments. Even 10 years later Starcraft is still being on top (since a few days things have changed though). Maybe only Counter-Strike has a greater longevity.
I don't really care about pro tournaments and that's hardly an argument. As you said, Counter-Strike has awesome longevity, yet rarely is it considered one of the greatest games of all time. Besides, as Certinfy said, COD is also played in online tournaments, yet you dismiss that game and others like it.
You're so illogical that it's humorous
