Re: Sick, Pathetic, Greedy Fixing Will Never Go Away- Amazing Snooker Scandal

Well I fully I admit I despise the NOTW as anyone else who believes that journalism should have some ethics should.

This is the paper that taps phones and hires PI's to spy on people in their own homes.

Yeah, my contempt for them is no secret and that's why I'm playing devil's advocate here. However, I do think the point I raise about the legality of the sting as it could apply to a potential CAS challenge by the player, is a valid one.

I'll also admit that I would've penned Higgins as one of the few snooker players unlikely to get involved with something like this. I don't care about snooker enough to call myself a fan but it is very disappointing.

Was amazed to hear that McIllroy was still 20. He seems to have been around for ages. Hopefully he can maintain some sort of human side if he does turn out to be a superstar and not need a string of affairs with hookers in 12 years time to remind people that he's not actually a corporate golf robot.

The NOTW is probably no worse than the rest of the British and Irish popular press.

Won't happen to a Bangor boy. But if it does the potential for punning headlines is already there.

Tiger banging a load of chicks is one thing, I still fanboy him big time. Match-fixing is unforgivable, I could no longer support Higgins (if he ever plays snooker again). I just can't understand why in the prime of his career, holding #1 in the rankings etc he'd consider chucking it all away...something he has worked super hard his whole life to achieve. It doesn't really make any sense.

Ego,narcissism and greed. Happens in all professions.

The great thing about democracy is that it gives every voter a chance to do something stupid.

Those 3 words don't go with Higgins, that's why it's so shocking.

Well, apparently they do.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

I happen to have two eyes.

Which I'm starting to doubt you do on this matter. Get real.

Exactly. He is one of the people in snooker that I would have least suspected of this and if he is doing it then who else is doing it.
