Re: Financial clusterfuck in Europe

A famous American newspaper (can't remember which) recommends Germany leaving the Eurozone, causing the currency Euro to depreciate which will give export oriented industries in Spain / Greece etc. a competitive advantage.

Any down sides of this?

(Yes I know this is highly unlikely)

Got to love these exchanges in the Euro Parliament. So entertaining.

I would keep the EU just for the fun of watching a British and a Belgian politician going at eachother.

Re: Financial clusterfuck in Europe

there were a total of 12 very well publicised forecasters of the mess we are in... 2 of them were economic academics... only 1 survives today... i've posted a little bit of his stuff up before, but i was waiting two months before an april 4 podcast of bbc's Paul Mason hosting Steve Keen at The London School of Economics became available...

easily the most polished performance of his recent euro tour... was worth waiting for... deep knowledge, easy answers and humour...

the role of debt... amazing what a well versed host provides...

short term yes, for both sides. long term very little, almost everybody wins. bring it on. either germany steps down unilaterally or the southern bloc kicks out germany.

Problem is (if Germany leaves) Austria, Netherlands, Finland and Slovakia would have to follow. Possibly France too.

There's no question the euro needs Germany to stay alive.

Merkel gives Greek voters the "Deutsche Finger". Vote Austerity, or else...

Big election is tomorrow. Let the chain reaction begin.

Euphoria over a football game will send the Greeks to the polls in a mood to defy everyone and just vote for more partying, who cares about the bill.

Latest update from Greece:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-18478982

"Too close to call".

New Democracy and Syriza are almost neck-and-neck.

Well, it was nice knowing the euro while it lasted.
