Re: Massvie 8.8 magnitude quake strikes Chile

this earthquake was very strong... it seemed would never end (in the moment)
fortunately nothing serious happened in my house, I live in santiago
but in areas closest to the epicenter is all very bad, a totally unexpected tragedy,
are officially 78 deaths, surely this should increase dramatically, I hope not

COME ON CHILEANS

I expect and hope this isn't as tragic as many people think.

All my best to all Chileans.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Re: Massvie 8.8 magnitude quake strikes Chile

I`m living in Curico (aprox. 180 KM from epicentre), is a total chaos here, many people that were on the beach, have to run to the hills.

Yes, I recall you posting a couple of months ago that a strong earthquake in Chile was bound to happen soon.

My heart goes to Chile for this disaster.
Not always... Chile has good infrastructure so I dont expect deaths to go that high. Hopefully they wont.
Really sucks, and there was a Earthquake in Korea/CHina as well yesterday, guess the plates are moving alot...

BBC says it's at about 35 km depth, but you might know that in the meanwhile.

*VivaChile* got news of some of his relatives in Concepcion, but is still missing news of some of them.

of course, earthquakes was part of my studies.

i meant to say that not only the location of the epicenter is important but also the depth or let's say the hypocenter. media always talks about epicenter.

Re: Massvie 8.8 magnitude quake strikes Chile

I know that the depth is important, the 8km depth in Haiti was the reason for this massive destruction there.
