Hiphop sucks lately cause it's not real. IMO hiphop = Authentic and majority of it now is not.

T.I new video

It's alright. A little to mainstream sounding for me. A lesser version of No Matter What.

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

Haha, I hate 90% of rappers listed in this thread although I am actually a hip hop fan. K'naan (awesome Somalian rapper), Mos Def & Talib Kweli (especially on blackstar record label), CYNE, anything by MF Doom (Madlib, Madvillain etc...), jurassic5, cunninlynguists etc... Basically I don't enjoy the bling bling stuff even if some of those rappers have very good flow (Nas especially ) I find it hard to listen when they are talking shit 99% of the time. One which does that but is too good to miss is Gangstarr. Dj Premier is mayube the greatest hip hop producer of all time so it makes a difference to the music. He also produced on some of Mos Def's best tracks like mathematics etc...

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

Why do people still entertain T.I.? He hasn't done anything worthy of accolades since Trap Muzik.

I don't understand all the Lupe Fiasco love. I haven't heard much of him, but one of my friends literally sucks his cock everytime we discuss hip hop. Sayin Lupe is better than 2pac and what not. I feel like punching the shit outta him
BEP is hip hop? I would consider them more pop/club. Actually, what is the difference between hip hop and rap? I know sometimes the terms are used interchangeably.

BEP released two great hip-hop albums before Fergie joined and completely ruined the original group. If you haven't heard their first album "Behind the Front", you've missed one of the greatest 90's hip-hop albums IMO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tsqExN-zpg

And the difference is, that hip-hop is a genre while rap is what comes out of rappers' mouth (just like singing is what singers do). Some people would also say that hip-hop is a culture and rap is just one of the elements, while the others are breakdancing, DJing etc. But basically in terms of music, it doesn't matter if you say rap or hip-hop, both words refer to the same type of music.

Yeah I don't dig most of mainstream R&B either, with a couple of exceptions like Alicia Keys (my favorite artist) or Ryan Leslie. But there are definitely a lot of good current R&B/soul artists and they are not completely underground (unless selling 100,000+ units is considered underground), although they don't rule the charts. Most of them are labeled "neo-soul". Here are some examples of what I consider today's quality soul music:
