Those 2 from Pharoahe are good songs. Did you happen to check out any of Talib Kweli's Gutter Rainbows?

I will have a review of Lasers in the coming days.

Ah, thanks for reminding, gotta get a copy of Pharoahe's new album.

I've been secretly hoping for an Organized Konfusion reunion for many years, don't see it happening though

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

yeah well about that promised review of Lasers... I'm not going to dignify it with a full review. There is only 3 decent songs on the album. Words I Never Said, Till I get There and All Black Everything.

Till I Get There is the best of the album. Sounds like soemthing off of Lupe's old albums. It has a nice bouncy east coast feel it. The message of the song is also interesting. I feel like there is some deeper message in the lyrics that what meets the eye.

All Black Everything has a decent but not great beat. The lyrics are what make the song. Lupe paints a picture of a world where slaves were never brought to America and the black race is a world power, reversing roles with the caucasians. He turn's things on there head, Eminem is a black rapper while 50 cent in the white rapper. "Hip Hop ain't got a section called conscious".

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

hahaha. Ghostface Killah released his top 10 softest rappers.

A must read, really funny stuff and the way he writes it Can't say he's a fan of Drake.

here's a sample:

Quote:
10. Kid Cudi

Ayo Cudi aka Kid Cuddli at the bottom of the list right here. Ayo no offense cos the god actually dont hate this nigga or nothin…but the nigga joints is softer than cotton panties son. It aint even like the nigga wack tho. He jus soft. The nigga do be evenin his shit out from time to time tho…so he get that coveted #10 spot for that shit namsayin. The nigga did serve a nigga in the crowd at his show wit the 1 piece combo so Imma give him that credit where its due n shit namsayin. Even tho that shit probably aint leave a mark on that nigga. That shit mussa took the nigga some heart at least nahmean.

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

and for the record I don't take much stock in who is "hard". Being a hard rapper is not required to be good, certainly its part of the genre but its not the whole genre. Ghost's list includes Wale who is a rapper I really like. He may be considered soft because he dsoen't rap about killing folks but does that make his any less of a rapper?

Definitely not.

Only the younger rappers are interested in actin' hard and what not.

The older rappers who have been in the hood and made it out want nothin' to do with the thug life.

here's my underground group CYNE doing their thing again. Cise Star and Akin tearing it up. This song isn't the best example of thier ridiculous lyricist skills, but has an insane beat and great feel to it.

anyone got anything new they want to share? 2011 has been a pretty poor year for hip hop thus far.

Re: Hip-Hop the thread

Bad Meets Evil album is pretty sick, here's the lead single. Contender for hip hop song of the year in my opinion:

I think Nas has got a new album coming out this year as well, he's one of the best lyricists in the game so I expect that to be dope...

Very fire track. Game especially kills his verse.

For me, Pac is still the greatest. I listen to him every day, better than 99.9% of what comes out today, as real as it gets, beats to match.

Though I do need to download that new Bad Meets Evil EP.
