Re: Hip-Hop music thread

Let's get some discussion going.

Kanye's new song Runaway.

I really don't know what to make of this. The beat is very good and the chorus is decent. However Kanye really underperforms. His verse has no flow, ryme or connection with anything. Also I don't like his sudden liberal use of the words shit(meaning literal feces) and dick. He has used bathroom imagery in many of his new songs, verses. Not a fan of it especially when he throws it in there when it does not even ryhme with anything.

Odd song overall

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

I like the beat a lot, but the refrain is quite stupid. He def. has better songs than this one...

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

Yeah the beat is sick but thats pretty much it. I don't like it when Kanye sings he needs to get back to his insane flow. His verse on Lloyd Banks new single "Start it up" is off the chain, thats the style he needs to get back to.

Some sick albums coming up in the next month, at least my favourites:

Nelly - Nelly 5.0
Lloyd Banks - The Hunger For More 2
Flo Rida - Only 1 Flo
Kanye West - My Dark Twisted Fantasy
Akon - Akonic (not sure this will be released though due to the lack of success of "angel").
T.I. - King Uncaged

N.E.R.D - Hot 'n' fun

Fresh! Crazy bassline.
love the first lines, sounds extremely smooth:

Okay, we wrote this for a purpose, to motivate you at this time,
With this hypnotizing bassline, please feel free to lose your mind,
And get high, get money, get sex, get real, all intertwined
Oh yeah, this is stadium music, 50,000 at a time

I quite like it. I think they nailed when they describe it as hypnotizing.

and about the albums coming out soon. I was once a huge T.I fan but I have not liked the sound of the singles from King Uncaged. Paper Trail is a great album overall bt my expectations for King Uncaged are not as high. Plus he is going back to jail so the whole message of his last 2 albums goes out the window.

Kanye's My Dark Twisted Fantasy or whatever looks very odd. I will liekly pick it up though just because I am intrigued by what he is playing at with it, which is the purpose, to tempt you to buy it.It will be odd, maybe poor overall but I expect that there will be a couple of real gems.

I am also really looking forward to Kid Cudi's new album. Kid Cudi can almost be considered another genre but I like his unique style. His songs are just pleasing to listen too and pefect for lonely walks, with the whole Man on the Moon imagery.

While I wait for those albums I have recently gotten into K-os(my avatar at the moment). Amazing rapper who also goes outside the boundaries of hip/hop.Very similiar to K'naan.

check out this brilliant song. It was launched into my favorite aong top 10 from the 1st time I heard it.

Agreed about T.I. Paper Trail was an absolute classic but King Uncaged isn't looking like its going to top it. Have you heard the single he released featuring Chris Brown called "Get Back Up"? Pretty much the song you'd expect to find on Paper Trail but not as hungry. The message is still the same but for some reason I can't get into it. Maybe his going to jail does have something to do with it like you said.

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

I even watched that show T.I's Road to Redemption. All undone by him going back to prison, the troubled teens he helped in that show are now thinking "Did I just get taught by a hypocrite?".

Songs like Ready for Whatever and No Matter What are classics, hopefully King Uncaged can put out a few good ones as well. Usually an albums best songs are not singles anyway, expecially these days. So we will see. Is there a release date on that album yet? I know it got pushed back. I hope it won't go into beauracratic hell like Lupe Fiasco's Lasers did.

It got pushed back to December 7. I wonder if that date will stick? I was so keen for "Lasers", apparently it is meant to be released in the first quarter of 2011. You're right though, a lot of people will be feeling let down by T.I. after this.

Kid Cudi released his Sophmore album a few days ago. I have listened to a few tracks, so far it is a sophmore slump. Nothing jumps out at you, things get a bit too mumbly and the lyrics are stagnant.

Hopefully these last few tracks are good and it grows with each listen as Man on the Moon did.

Re: Hip-Hop music thread

Well it looks like Detox could finally be coming out, most likely early next year. Dr Dre leaked a track called "Kush" ft Snoop Dogg and Akon. It isn't the mastered version but it still sounds very good, the beat is sick. Hopefully this lastest release date sticks. Also Dre said that this song is the only weed related song on the album and he didn't want the public to the think the album was heading in that direction and he had "real shit" to talk about.

Also to elaborate more on the previous T.I. discussions, the track listing for the new album now called "No Mercy" has been released along with a leak a song with Eminem entitled "All she Wrote". I'm happy to say this song is very, very good. This is the flow and style and content of what I expect from T.I. and you could tell the hunger was there. Eminem went in hard as well. I was looking foward to thealbum before, but now I Can't wait!
