I couldnt care less about Ana's predicament when there is an incredibly large frog to be fascinated by.

Sad book but so honest and well written His teaching prowess was "the stuff that dreams are made of".
I found this article in the times as well when I read the link for McCourt. This is downright effing scary,00.html

I was not convinced that things could have been that bad in Limerick and suspect that he was exaggerating somewhat. Maybe I am wrong. Comfy Northern Ireland in the 40's and 50's was probably a world away from Limerick in the 30's and 40's.
I did not read the follow-up 'Tis, but it seems that many of the reviewers were not happy with it and thought McCourt might not be such an endearing person as the young boy in Ashes.

I dunno. limerick is pretty much the murder capital of europe and it stands to reason that it must've been even worse in the 30s.

I'm going to university there next year.

never read any of his books.
