Count me in as a fan! All stuff from opera to early 20th like Ravel, Britten.

I sing in two choirs (one of them among the finest in Paris) to partake in the magic.

Re: Classical and Opera lovers

famous German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Mendelssohn Bartholdy
the violin she's using is a several-centuries old Stradivari

Re: Classical and Opera lovers

This is a wonderful thread, thanks Prima Donna for starting it and all yous for the contributions, lots of my favourites already

I was just curious, thread consensus, would you allow Instrumentals, such as film scores, cos they aren't in the same ilk as Beethoven, Bach and Berlioz, but some of Hans Zimmer, James Horner, John Williams, Harry Gregson-Williams, Michael Nyman's stuff can be quite orchestral and I guess modern classic? I shall wait for confirmation before posting any though

Here are some regular classical favourites though :

Sorry only YT vid I could find of Philip Glass: Violin Concerto II had Kate moss prancing about, sorry

and finally...my absolute fave

Can this be considered Classical? Well it sounds classical to me.

With this song our church choir always walks into the church at the midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. That's when I get the real Christmas feeling

Re: Classical and Opera lovers

Anyone saw the Neujahrskonzert?

I thought it was fantastic. Prete's rendition of the Blue Danube was the best one I remember.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).
