Joe Satriani - If I could fly:

The article:

Martin mentions being sued by someone whose name 'rhymes with Moe Batriani.'

What was amazing for me is the number of views on YouTube after all...

..
Martin is one despicable ****. There's more musical ability evident in one of Satriani's farts than in Coldplay's entire back-catalogue

Just don't show me the photo of this jerk, please...

Satriani knows what he's doing...

Re: Did Coldplay copy Joe Satriani?

When you can play both songs at the same time and it fits perfectly, I guess there is a problem...

Funny. This band started with one big song on album #1, did a second album that was 1/2 good, and now they have to copy others to suck...

Coldplay should be charged for bringing the art of music into disrepute.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

I'll pretend i never read that

It's quite clear they have taken from that song for the vocal melody but the music itself is different. Feeling like a dagger through the heart is abit over the top Satch. Well unless it was Britney spears copying from Satch Boogie.. then that would be a true disgrace

I became aware of him back in 1987, because of this album (cover)..:

Which won him a Grammy award nomination in 1989 for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. (I bought the album, but have fallen behind the curve, so to speak: While he put one solo album out before it, he's put out ten following it...including "Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock". (2008))

Very talented.

Re: Did Coldplay copy Joe Satriani?

I'm not convinced it was copied. If they claimed there was influence, I could see it, but it's just as believable to me that there was no relationship. These things can occur by chance. The only really striking similarity is the mi-fa-re lick in the melody, but it could be coincidental. It's three pitches, after all. Sometimes these things evolve analogously, rather than homologously, so to speak. The recurring chord patterns are not that complex, and pretty similar. Two different people composing/improvising over them could easily arrive at some similar melodic structures.

Last of the moon-and-volley specialists.

I believe in luck. How else can you explain the success of those you don't like? ---Jean Cocteau
